Change the name of your sub-forum!

Looks like they won't spend the money on a dedicated NA engine for a few years... I guess too expensive... now we know all those sightings were the ZL1 1LE....

So... there was never a Z28 in development ... and if one does start to be developed it won't be out for a few years now... that would be best case scenario.... but considering that the ZL1 1LE fits the template of the Z28... I think they are now waiting for the DOHC engines of the C8 before they release another naturally aspirated Z28 badged car....

The Z28 will be just like the zl1 1le but with the new overhead cam motor and more lightweight parts. Out in 2019.

1LE takes the chassis from the next highest model.. eg. V6 1LE with SS chassis, SS 1LE with ZL1 chassis..

ZL1 1LE with Z/28 chassis?

Well the last Z/28 came out two years after the ZL1, so there's still hope. I'd expect a final GM 7.0L V8 with a crazy cam and top end and the car should look similar to a ZL1 1LE but weigh considerably less. It may just be a gutted ZL1 1LE with a 427... but all we can do is speculate.

At this point in the past I would have thought the Z/28 to be a dead dream but GM seems to be offering a wide variety of builds to their performance platforms. The Grand Sport proves GM has the guts to mix and match parts to create new options. A Z/28 very well may end up that type of deal, a stripped down light weight ZL1 1LE with an engine swap.

I think that this chassis is too good to not make a z28 for it, 2019 or 2020 will be my guess

Question is really if the ZL1LE should have it's own section under the specific package/variant section.

Why would they make a z/28? Have 4 track models, that makes not sense. Only way I see it happening is if the zl11le is dropped after a year. Or maybe they will offer a z/28 1le lol

Except all the spy shots are all already here... so rename and re-organize woudl be best....

the new DOHC V8 going into the mid-engine Corvette C8 will be the engine I would use if I was chevy.... massage it for an extra 15-20% hp and bam.... Z28....

I think Al Oppenhieser has been given a mandate to make this car as capable as possible... and he has suceeded in make the ZL1LE a better track car that the Z07... which isnt such a big deal because of the C8 on the horizon which will be much different from current car...
