Either way I'd wait. Weather you want a 2019 or a 2020. If you wait for the 2020 the 19 will get better incentives. I went 2019 becuase I wanted black and it hides the grille very well. If any other than black is what you want, I'd go with a 2020.

The 2.0T is plenty quick enough for me. The point is, get the car that fits what you want to do. If you want the truly track capable car go SS. But be sure that the 6.2 is what you really want. There is the idea of the 6.2, and then the reality. It's bloody loud, very thirsty, and its weight is very noticeable. There is this monologue out there that says something like "Only the V8 is fun, you'll regret it if you don't get the V8." I fell for all that once, and now I know better. At least drive the V6 and 2.0T before you buy anything. If money is an issue for you and you stretch for an SS and end up with a stripped 1SS you may regret not going for a loaded 2.0T or V6. There are plenty of super happy people out there in every engine type. Be sure to fully investigate before dropping cash.

As for 2019 or 2020, it just depends on what body style you want. If you wait until the 2020 is on lots, the leftover 2019s will be super cheap. But if you want an SS, and the 2019 fascia is not acceptable to you, you'll have to wait for 2020.

NJ, where I live, is much more like Washington in this regard, yet I wasn't happy with the loaded V6. The SS was exactly what I wanted, I just tried to rationalize the V6 first.

All this is to say preferences are highly subjective and OP would be best off test driving a few Camaros of different trims and options and then making a call, also considering the front end design differences. The 2020 announcement is around the corner, it may well be worth waiting for to see the exact changes.

To me budget and "want to" are the biggest factors.

I want to get out of my shuddery V6 even though I've only had it 2.5 years. The transmission is a huge disappointment along with some much more minor build quality issues. Aside from that I felt like the V6 was the much better buy compared to the SS, which I still think was way over-engineered for the average customer.

Last year I got to drive a modern V8 for the first time and I haven't forgotten that feeling of torque at the wheels. Plus it's going to sound like a muscle car should.

I think the LT1 looks classy with that bumper. I don't like the new RS/SS headlights--they look like eyeliner to me--so not having those lights is no loss. I'm completely lost on why anyone would want to option out the LT1 anyway.

Don’t forget your car insurance is gonna be at least triple on a v8 than a v6 if that makes any difference to you

I don't know if I should get that 18 2SS that's still on sale down the road or check out the 19 or 20? List price on the 18 is 48k and they want 36 for it now. I'm still thinking about a low mileage 18 Challenger SRT, but its about 8k more and the Camaro price is almost too good to pass up.

Do you like the 2019? If you do get that. If you don't then wait for the refresh fix on the SS. If your looking at a lot then wait for the 2020's to hit the lot and get a 2019 when they do some heavy discounts to clear the lot.

I would not get the LT1. It's a horrible choice. The skinny tires on that car won't last. The cuts they made were pretty bad. And the resale on the car will be absolutely horrible. Alot of younger guys will be looking for those on the second hand market but that won't hold it's value compared to an SS. But it could drove the second hand lt market prices down a bit. Most guys who go with an LT do it because the SS was not in there process range. Not all but a large number. They go in for the SS. Find out they can't afford it and leave with an LT. Nothing wrong with that but the LT1 will hit that market pretty good.

I strongly disagree with the last paragraph and it's mostly based on potentially incorrect assumptions.

Some people will only buy a V8 Camaro/Muscle car and were not wild about the 16-18 SS look, like the 19 even less but find the LT1 to be juuuust right.

I would want some options but I find the spoiler, front, interior disco lights on the 2ss to be very off putting. We don't know exactly how high a LT1 can be optioned.

The LT1 is not the car to get. You don't want a skimped out SS. Always get an earlier model year so you can get the best price.

If you can find a leftover '18 SS in manual, you'll probably get $8K off MRSP (or more). If going automatic, I would skip the '18 and get a '19 A10. The A10 is awesome and most likely no shudder to worry about like the A8 had.

I'm bias b/c I have a '19 but the front end of the '19 doesn't bother me one bit. I actually like it.

If you want to pay the most $, get a 2020.
