Same ole race and result. Gt vs SS
I know the older mustangs struggled a bit, so was curious too see how a 2018 did.

Looks fairly even, possibly the mustang was faster? The first run the SS got the jump. You also cant tell when the SS is braking. These videos can be misleading

it’s no mystery. with equal input, the mustang is faster after the 1/8 mile. it’s fairly even until the modding begins. then the mustang runs away.
driver is important. i beat the pants off a base m6 18 gt at the track. in my 1LE..

Yep. The Coyote got faster in 2018, but still lacks low end grunt.

CAI and exhaust on the Mustang are non-factors there's no appreciable gains there. Given distance, the Mustang will take it.

Considered a 2018 Mustang GT before buying my 2018 SS. Both are nice cars, but the Camaro just felt faster because of the higher torque. I knew the top end was lacking in the Camaro and that the Mustang could edge it slightly in longer runs, but I wasn’t going to be racing anyway. So, I went with the car that felt faster. There’s just no substitute for torque.

But I'm not sure I completely follow you on the "once the mods begin" part. I had E85 and kooks LT's. The stock induction and exhaust system was really good from Ford so not much gains to be had there. And aside from doing a massively expensive cam swap, (which would net minor gains) there really wasn't much t more to squeeze out. With Camaro you have more on the table cam and head wise and I think you get a bit more out of LT's also. And, within reason, you get to keep your torque. So, N/A, I think ultimately Camaro may have an advantage. Plus, should you decide you want more Cubic Inches, you have that flexibility. Again, preference here. But I think if were talking about "mods" speaking of boost, the 5.0 really does have a pretty solid advantage. The coyote is a great engine.

Lt1 vs 5.0
Quote:
I don't get that statement either. I do think the 5.0 is obviously the better boost motor compared to the lt1, the lt4 and 5 is a different story.... but the lt1 has absolutely more NA power in it. Heads cam fbo car are touching over 600 wheel and running mid 9s. No NA s550s are doing that. Maybe the 5.0 responds well to E85 and a tune, arguably better than the lt1 to just tbose mods, and you can slap a cobra jet or cj intake for some extra power and cams might help a little bit but nothing like going full tilt on a heads cam lt1. Fbo they're comparable, but after bolt ons the lt1 has a lot left in it where after bolt on s you're not gaining much for your dollar in the 5.0. Cams on a 5.0 move the power band more than anything. Probably why most 5.0 guys just go with boost and skip the NA game.

all out na? yeah the LT1 is a beast. the coyote ain’t far behind. but the truth of it is, 75% of these car owners will never go beyond bolt ons, in which case i think the coyote takes it.

5.0s vs lt1s
The fastest NA 5.0 s550 is still quite a ways behind the fastest NA 6th gen, and way down on power too.. but I agree, seems like less bolt ons get the 5.0 to 500rwhp, the induction system is already pretty good, but there are more bolt ons for the 6.2. It's advantage in bolt ons is almost it's detriment in all out NA power, since there's not as much left in the table compared to the lt1 after bolt ons imo.

Owning SSes for 50 Years

There are very few opportunities to drive over 70 or 80 without drawing a lot of attention from law enforcement. So, the performance potential of box stock Camaro vs Mustang would almost always go to the Camaro. My box stock Camaro doesn't lose to box stock Mustangs at the drag strip including Mustang GT350s.
