Yup I wished they gave numbers to any other car that have been on that dyno so we would have a reference point.

And who would expect the base (non Z06 or ZR1) is going to have monster power to weight ratio in the first place? Dumb way to phrase that.

As for the understeer: I believe that Chevy put a large amount of understeer into the C8 for saftey reasons. You start to lose it in a mid-engine car, and it's a beast to control. However, I noticed in the Car & Driver article this: "Both had additional wheel camber dialed in as recommended in their owner's manuals for track use." Adjusting the camber would help reduce underteer quite a bit. And Car & Driver didn't complain about too much understeer either (more than likely because they adjusted the camber).

Seems like Chevy wants to have lots of underteer for the street for saftey, but less for the track for better balance. But, I think that other reviewers didn't adjust the camber, and experienced the street version of understeer.

As for the dyno results: Whoever is running that dyno needs to ventilate their shop better, they are inhaling too many exhaust fumes...
They made themselves sound stupid. The first thing I thought about when I saw the word "understeer" is that GM obviously don't want their customers who might not be used to a ME setup to go driving it like a FE setup and end up going off the road rear first. And then they're complaining that they couldn't fishtail it to swing it in place...again, GM doesn't want a bunch of people trying that when it is unnecessary and ending up with the tail of the car plowing into a tree. That much was obvious. I'm no pro driver or pro with cars and I know that as a basic. And mind you, this is the Base Vette and Base with Z51 package. The higher trims will have more extreme setups. So to me they were completely out of place with their complaints. And it looked more like they were just trying to find something, even if it was nothing but could be worded to sound like something, to criticize.

In any case I doubt their criticisms were taken as anything more than douchebaggery. Those reports came out while I was in Florida looking at the C8 and the excitement that car is generating is like nothing I've seen. On the pages and forums I'm on not one person thinks any less of the car. So whatever effect they were hoping to achieve with their nonsense doesn't seem to have taken hold.

Dialing in understeer is a wise decision, IMHO. Even Randy Pobst has stated that he prefers a little understeer dialed in on the track. I think GM is saving a few trees and maybe a few lives by dialing in the understeer in stock form.

Nah it's not so bad. Ford already has that figured out. They are piping in/out a simulted GT350 soundtrack both inside and outside of the car.

Yup. But it’s in like 3,000 DA. No idea what the air temperature was for those runs. It should be quite a bit lower for something in 1,000 or lower DA conditions. Sub 11s is still a possibility.

the fella who posted it said that particular run was somewhere around 9-10am and 1500-2000DA...and yes, i agree it's going sub 11s. after seeing it struggle for traction in the video, the thing will flat out be nasty once it gets a tire.

You hit the nail on the head. Both the GT500 and C8 have new Tremec DCTs, but different ones. Big modding potential may be a bit limited by the transmissions for both cars. I wonder how much HP one can make in either of these cars before the trans is an issue?
