Drag racing is boring

I did it 15 years ago when I was in my mid twenties with a 4th Gen. Car was fast in a straight line…. but sucked once you hit a corner.

After getting my Gen6 this car handles so well, I didn’t even think about 1/4mi. It would be a waste. It’s a whole new level of fun. On this board drag racing seems to be the primary focus….

I’m not sure why people bother with that anymore when a Tesla will destroy you in a 1/4 mile, but this car can perform in the turns. Electric isn’t there yet (they will one day). The alpha chassis is outstanding.

The nice thing about these cars is you can do ALL of it. Drag race, road race, roll race, go fast events, etc. The chassis is great and can handle it all.

Oh, I haven’t lost to any of the Teslas I’ve raced, for what it’s worth…

That’s what bracket racing is for. Keeps it fun. It could also be said that NASCAR is boring, and car shows are boring or taking my Camaro out for a Sunday drive is boring.

Believe this though…If you had a manual 800+ whp car, you would 100% definitely not find drag racing boring.

to be fair

most every kind of racing is boring in an auto car unless you have 700+ whp.

Last year I did Pocono and lots of drag. Drag is still lots of fun to me.
Maybe you should give it a shot with this car.
I just don’t hit those upper gears on the street.

It's not boring when it includes ALL of the elements of ET racing such as checking the starting line for track conditions, checking weather conditions to see if it's going away or coming to you, dialing the right times for that day's conditions, cutting a light, racing the end of the track, not breaking out, etc., etc.

sounds like someone is bracket racing. i always looked at bracket racing simply like a donation to someone else, those guys are hardcore. even trying to race an index at local events is a challenge. which is basically bracket racing, but with a universal dial in. bring a 10.0 car to the 11.0 index and sandbag to win.

chrome383z: what lsjuan car did you race back in the day? i lived at irp from 2001-2006, i'm guessing we crossed paths. i had a bolt on pewter a4 z28 with no badges that ran bottom 12s on the factory snowflakes.

So your plan here was to jump into this group of people that obviously love drag racing very much and tell them that you think it's boring? Not sure what that is supposed to accomplish.

Drag racing an automatic gets boring after a while, unless that car is built, preferably a turbo v8 on a trans-brake through a power glide, THOSE never get boring. By comparison, a MUCH slower stock LT1 manual with just a drag pack is a TON of fun at the strip.
