Worth doing axleback exhaust?
I have a 2017 camaro ss with NPP and I’m curious if it is worth upgrading to an aftermarket axle back or catback. Is it really much louder or not really? I’ve seen mixed reviews but don’t want to waste the money if it isn’t a good difference. I may do headers down the road but not anytime soon.

Yes there is a difference. Lots of info on axle back exhausts, search.

It's worth if you want a different sound, tone and want it louder. I went with a Stainless works axle back because I got a great deal and I didn't like the rasp and higher pitched tone with npp and catless headers.

You spent $ 900 on NPP and you want to spend another $ 800 to 1200 ????

Its probably not going to improve the performance but sound will be usually louder. Plenty of us have made 850 rwhp with stock cat back Npp. I only had long tubes/xpipe and still made well over 850 and ran 9.40@147 with it so its no very restrictive in my opinion and the performance shows that also.

Only reason to change is sound. I was going to get the corsa system but then decided to just keep the $$$ in my pocket.
This fall I’m going FBO E85 with 2” CSP headers and their new high flow cats... plan on keeping the stock NPP at least for the short term. If I don’t like the sound I might consider it but I want to see how it sounds with stock NPP before dropping $2k on a corsa ab...

I on the other hand had no npp on my car, and the axle back prices I saw were outrageous, so I had a muffler delete done and couldn't be happier. Saved a ton of money, got the sound I wanted, and the kicker is the car is 30 lbs lighter. |

A muffler delete (straight pipes) is extremely loud and drones like a mofo, not everyone will be into that. I'd wait for a used axle back to in the classifieds, that's what I did and couldn't be happier on the cost and sound.

No, save your money for engine work or long tubes or something. The money to power ratio increase is tragically ineffective for an axle back exhaust.

As previously mentioned, I'm sure the OP would be happy with a track+fuse pull and a rear cat delete as so many other members have done, if he can get away with it in his state. |

If you go headers, then keep the stock suitcase, as it'll likely sound better than the Borla+headers. For me, the stock NPP is fine and any $ spent on exhaust would be a waste: with the top down NPP in track mode it's just right. |

I thought my ATAK was a great purchase. Headers...eventually.

Axle-back for sound/volume, track mode and/or fuse pull was too tame for me personally. The only way IMHO you can get in to it though because some are exorbitantly priced, you go axle back with MBRP or Solo where you can do that for <1K. There's little to no reason at all to go cat back with these cars. Borla and Corsa are clown world expensive for what they are.
