If it had been on the other side of the engine, they could have scooped him out of the car with buckets. Morons.

So did the other guy get his $1600? He did happen to win I’m surprised that dude made it out alive. There was a guy with a new GT500 a couple years ago that crashed at a local track in Texas and had the car tore in half, he wasn’t so lucky.

In this instance, my guess is that an imperfection in the road caused the live axle to lose traction, but a new Mustang has an independent suspension, so what would cause it?

It was inexperienced driver with new fast car and traction control off. The track had a lone tree that was on the right side of the strip (about 10 feet) as well as a small guard rail. Once the guy lost control, which was almost immediately, he started swerving, ran off the track and hit the rail, continued to slide sideways across the rail and finally ended up against that lonely tree. Sliding on the rail helped separate the car in half and the tree was the final straw. The only thing the track had to do as a result of the accident was change to 1/8 mile instead of 1/4.

Holy crap. No roll cage and minimal safety gear. He's lucky he ended up with only a broken jaw, missing teeth and broken shoulder.
