1LE with summer only track tires?
Some of you may remember back in October when I took delivery of my new 1LE.
I had posted my concern storing my car in my unheated garage due to the possibility of the tires cracking. This winter we had a few cold spells that were at 20 plus below zero that lasted for days. Single digit temperatures for weeks. I did push the car back and forth several times when the temperature came up above forty degrees. I'm happy to say I took her out yesterday and inspected the tires. All good, I didn't notice any cracking anywhere. |

My concern is that the intense cold put the tires through heat cycles that changed the rubber permanently. I don't know if those tires will be as grippy - I hope so. It would be interesting to have before & after durometer readings to see if the rubber got any harder.

Seriously? If we can prove the rubber went bad, I'll be offering them to Dana Patrick. I heard she recently purchased a new Camaro 1LE. She has crashed in just about every race she has entered in. This will give her an excuse when she crashes on the street. I don't give a S. They didn't crack and that's all I'm looking at. I'll be rolling on them until I get down to the wear bars and then be done with Goodyear. |

As far as I'm concerned, you don't need to go silly stupid with this.
Don't go banging about the roads at 20 degrees or below. Put your car up for the winter. Be done with her for six months. If you take her out on the street in the cold at 20 or below? You will pay the price. |

Just really hoping someone (Michelin) makes a 305 all season to match the 285's available.

You're 100% correct. Two years my friend. It's not all about the cold and winter. I love the snow and winter sports. I was born and raised here in NH. I'm getting the hell out of this shit hole state ASAP. NH has turned into Northern Massachusetts. Myrtle Beach SC is where I will be heading. Winter is only the icing on the cake. |

Damn, I don't really want Winter snow tires at close to 2K. I'd like to keep the same foot print with an all season not summer only tire. This is overkill for me. She'll never see the snow and will be in storage before the snow comes. I would like to ride Oct-Dec. March - April. Our temperature sometimes drops a little to low for the summer only tires during these months. |
