Hail damage in Texas on March 2nd
Just wanted to post some photos of my 2020 2SS that got caught in a hail storm in North Texas on March 2nd. Sucks for sure.
Estimate for repair is 21k. Insurance is covering everything with oem parts. Rear quarters are being replaced, as well as the roof skin. I'm freaking out on the amount of work being done. (UPDATE)>>>>>Total dents on car was 2,247 Got the car back on Friday 4/7 They ended up not replacing the quarters or roof. The car looks great, I'm happy with the way it turned out. Ouch, that hurts to look at.
Do you know who insurance is sending it to for repairs? |

I picked the shop. It's a smaller custom focused shop. Been around for 20 years. They do great work.

That's crazy, I guess they're going to smooth and try to save the doors and fenders but it's literally a full job on all the car panels (bumpers as well I'm guessing?). Surely it must've been close to being totaled.
I guess that's one way to get a brand-new paint job!

The doors and bumpers are the only parts not being replaced. I was worried about it being totalled, glad it wasn't.

Best of luck on the repairs. Good to hear insurance is covering everything.
I recall the golf ball to tennis ball sized hail in Texas. Used to live east of Austin. |

But it probably goes faster now!!!
Sorry for your pain, I can't imagine... I remember working at my Dad's body shop back in the late 80's in Chicago and a huge hail storm came through the area, for the next 8+ weeks it was "New deck lid, new hood, skin the roof, fix the dents on the fenders and quarters...", that was NOT a fun time...

On the bright side, you can start looking around for ceramic coating for when they have it ready. Probably very minimal effort on paint correction if any. Would be the perfect opportunity imo

This happened to a car I had years ago. Car was worth about 12,000 dollars at the time. I still owed about 5,000 on it. Insurance totaled it. I got payed out 12,000 from insurance, paid off the loan, then I bought it from insurance for 6,500. It was a point a to b car, an Accord and I really didn't care how it looked. Glad you are getting it fixed and hopefully a lot of it can be PDR, the roof skin is going to be tough. I wonder how much you can get the work done for and maybe a respray of the car? Hope it turns out well for you.

Wow... That's a total bummer. Hope it looks brand new again when you get it back from the body shop.
