Possible money shift?

Yeah so I took my car out finally on a nice day. Did a nice pull and going from 2nd to 3rd I shifted somehow wrong and put it into 1st. 75 mph, I reviewed the PDR and on review I see the gear shift to 1st but the rev stops below 7k.

Not sure if I saved it because in that moment I got the car in the gate and the auto rev was on so I believed the car blipped by itself. Don't think I release the clutch.

Car feels fine. Motor doesn't sound weird @ idle and the transmission feels fine. Maybe the clutch has a bit more chatter then normal but I can't feel anything different.

Any other possible in your face signs I can look for? Compared it to my Buddys 1LE and I can't feel/see anything different. Had him drive around and he said my transmission felt better than his.

Did a money shift a long time ago on my prelude and that resulted in a new clutch right away and the car sounded like a bomb went off.

A mechanical over rev can result in bent valves, believe me you'd know it. Sounds like you'll be fine don't sweat it.

If you didn't release the clutch - you should be fine. And if you did release the clutch I think you would have known it. Going into 1st at 75 mph would create a big noticeable jerk.

Good luck! And I know the feeling - just this morning I missed the 2-3 shift by releasing the clutch too early and got a little gear grind!

If it seems fine, It's fine. Don't sweat it. Im pretty confident a stock LT1 can survive a couple seconds @ 7k RPM.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I feel like the biggest thing is clutch chatter being more than usual but probably just me.

Yep should be fine. Ironically I was missing 3rd also , but by shifting past it towards 5th. Making sure to shift with my palm now, straight and upwards if that makes sense.

Did it from 3rd to 2nd at 75 when I first got the car. Jerked hard but I only released the clutch slightly. That was 20k miles ago. I’m used to my offset MGW shifter on my foxbody. Took some getting used to

So I just checked PI Toolbox. I hit 6795 rpm. Hit it for 0.09 seconds.

Still freaking out lol

If it starts and runs fine, nothing rough, and no check engine lights, you’re fine. This is something that’s either catastrophic and immediate or no issues at all. You really don’t have gray area on an accidental over-rev.

That's okay, it lasted a very short while and wasn't north of 7k after all. My rpm limit is set to 6800 and extreme cutoff to 6900 with the A8.

i wouldn't be concerned with the rpm value near as much as the rapid accel to said value. from the sounds of it you barely engaged the clutch, no need to worry. i shift my stock internal bolt on car higher than 6795. i try to keep it out of the limiter but it does see 7k rpm quite frequently.

youre fine.

And people say, manual transmissions aren’t fun! Pffft.

OP - hope all works out. After your buddies comparative test drive I’d say your ok. PS - If you’re not, take it to the dealer but not sure if user error is covered so I might leave the miss-shift out of the conversation.

Does anyone know how much data and for how long in both time and mileage is stored in the “black box”?

There was a time a few years ago it was only a rolling previous 8-10 seconds of basic vehicle operation on most cars but I have a feeling it’s much longer and more detailed now.
