I am vastly worried it will still be massively fat with huge blind spots.... just like the 5th gen. It's an awesome performance machine, but it could do sooo much more with a few hundred pounds less.

I didn't like the rear of the C7 until I saw it in person and now I'm OK with it. The 2014 Camaro on the other hand, I hate it more and more everytime I see it. A grand slam in the 2010 model year looks like a sacrificial bunt in 2014. IMHO

I honestly kind of hope that the 6th gen doesnt look so good lol reason is i dont wanna be tempted to buy it after putting so much money into mine. I plan on keeping mine for a LONG time. And i just love how beefy it looks. If the new gen looks more beefy imma be in trouble lol but if it looks more. "Futuristic" then bleh :p

Well to be fair, every car can do so much more with a few hundred pounds less!

Not sure about blind spots...it might still have less than usual visability due to whatever styling it has, but b/c it is going on the Alpha platform there is no way in heck it will be as heavy as today's car. Bet around 200 lbs lost. Maybe more, but I don't think we will see close to 300 lost.

Based on the weights of the ATS and CTS on the new frame I believe we will not see a huge weight reduction. Maybe 200 lbs if we are lucky!

+1

I'm excited and concerned all at the same time. The C7 tail lights look amazing and could have been somehow designed for the 6th Gen, but I guess we shall see...

Best thing to happen to the 2013 Camaro was the 2014 tail lights. If you look back at Camaro history you will find that the 2014 style isn't all that unusual.

If the new 6th gen is on the AtS platform then why won't it be over 200lbs lighter? For one thing I don't see the same interior quality and options being in the Camaro. Which means it could be even lighter. Look at it this way. A 2011 CTS v6 is almost 4100lbs. That car is on the same chassis as the current 5th gen Camaro. If a ATS v6 is 3450 lbs then why can't a Camaro on the same Chassis be the same weight with the V8 model being around 150lbs more. GM really has a chance to move ahead of everyone in the same market if they build it on the ATS chassis. Now if they build it on the CTS chassis then it might not lose any weight.

I'm not sure that I totally follow you. The 2011 CTS was on Sigma II, which shared some parts with the Camaro's Zeta platform but was not identical. The 2014 CTS is on Alpha, and it did drop ~250 lbs (comparing comparably equipped 3.6L models).

I don't want to see another Camaro with halo headlights. The new Challengers are now offering it. They are played out.

Your right. I had my platforms mixed up.

I still think if GM builds the 6th gen on the Alpha platform with similar wheelbase and size to the ATS it will drop at least 200lbs if not more.
