PDR SD Card

Good evening Maro Mates!
I have a question for those of you using PDR. I'm looking at getting an SD card to start using mine. The owners manual says 8, 16, or 32 GB. I found a 256 for a good price. Getting the 256 won't mess anything up just cause it's not mentioned in owners manual correct? I wouldn't think so, just give more storage but wanted to confirm. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I tried searching for it, but phone doesn't let me use search box for some reason. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I don't have the 1LE and thus the PDR, but I'm pretty sure the size limitation stems from the only file system GM allows, FAT32, and its default block size of 4096 bytes. If you can find a PC or Mac tool to format the card to that file system, say, using a larger block ("allocation unit") size, it should work all the way up to 2 TB.

I have a 128 GB card in it now without issue. I wasn’t planning on using it but my 32 GB card failed while on track so I used what I had. I use mine as a dash cam so the extra room is nice.

That's exactly how I plan to use mine, as a dash cam of sorts

No, video quality will be the same. The camera is just not great.

PDR requires the SD card to be in FAT32 format. 32GB SD cards are formatted in FAT32 and 64GB+ are usually formatted in exFAT. You can easily format any size SD card into FAT32, just google it . The only "limitation" to FAT32 is that each individual file cannot be larger than 4096B (4GB) but unless you're recording for several hours straight, your PDR video file will not be that large. The PDR software likely just rolls over into a new file anyway.

I'm using a 64GB card and it's been plenty enough for me. Example thread that covers this as well: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478942
