Every video and instruction I found said to just "pull and twist the knob off and to pry if needed!! Without removing the screw it was a bit harder!!

great tips
Thanks for this thread, just installed one today in my '10 SS. the dust cover was a nightmare, took as long trying to get it as the whole rest of the job! drove down the road and it came off, thankfully didn't hurt it, read the thread and tips and got it perfect.
I highly recommend starting on passenger side and working your way around, that was the perfect tip, thanks!!!! Now to contemplate my next purchase.... |

Wished I would have seen this earlier. Did my friend's 13 HotWheels SS today and after fighting forever, even trying two screwdrivers. I found the screw.....

Hurst Extreme Duty Bushing Kit
When I was pressing in the original nylon bushings before installing the Hurst shifter kit in my 2011 2SS, one of them actually disintegrated. So, figuring that was a bad sign, I forked out for the Hurst Extreme Duty Bushing Kit, P/N 3326030, and used those stainless steel bushings instead. Despite Hurst's warnings about possible increased noise, vibration, and harshness, I notice absolutely no difference from the stock shifter (except of course for a dramatically shorter throw between shifts).
Install was 10,000 miles ago and the shifter is still as slop-free as the day it was installed. BTW, I used the shift knob & boot for the Chevy Hurst Shifter option for a very nice factory look. Gtista. |
