Your worries are worries that you yourself are making up. Just go buy a Prius so you quit worrying. It's a ZL1!!!!! Buy it. Drive the hell out of it. Enjoy it. Don't worry about payments and gas and whatever else crosses your mind.

I get it... Like mentioned in an earlier post I will drive my 2012 3 days a week and the zl1 the other 2 plus weekends. It is the same reason I did the 2LT and not the SS on the gen v. I have 91k miles on it in 4 years and it's 99% going to work.

Yeah. That's the dilemma. I could keep the truck and get the Zl1, and share the mileage which I'm sure knowing me I'd drive the ZL1 more than I'd plan on doing...or I could also get a little civic and put miles on it...but then I'd have 3 cars, plus my wife's car so 4 cars. No way she'd let me have 3 cars...so...what will probably end up happening is I get a ZL1 and just rack up the miles...

You can be sure the dealer will add another 10-20k over sticker on these as well.

But... like others have said if this is going to leave you strapped then I would maybe wait for the truck to be paid off . Best regards, Kayla L. 801.545.4215 |

I think "Daily Driver" implies you have a more track focused or high horsepower second car. Atleast thats what it means to me. So to answer your question, No, I don't believe this is worth it, not to me. To me this is the weekend/track car that doesnt rack up the miles.

I'll answer a different way, and assume that you can afford the car at MSRP already. Maybe you should consider a 3rd, more economical car for your commute. Here's some quick math:
80 miles round trip @ 20 work days per month = 1600 miles 1600 miles with ZL1 @ 20mpg = 80 gallons 1600 miles with EcoCar @ 40mpg = 40 gallons 80 gallons of premium for ZL1 at $2.75/gallon = $220 40 gallons of regular for Ecocar at $2.50/gallon = $100 (Difference of $120) Accelerated depreciation on ZL1 = $200/month Additional insurance on EcoCar = $100/month (Difference of $100) If you can get your hands on an economical car for less than $220 a month, that could be a good option. Obviously I've made some assumptions here, but figured this could get you thinking. If fuel goes up, EcoCar looks better. If depreciation is more aggressive, EcoCar looks better. If EcoCar gets better than 40mpg, EcoCar looks better. Last edited by g3ngo; 08-09-2016 at 01:41 AM. |

I got my 2SS to DD. Within 3 weeks I went and bought a used malibu eco just so I do not drive my 2SS everywhere. Now it's my third aka toy car that I purposefully drive to have fun and enjoy it. Peace of mind of not worrying about someone dinging it, vandalizing it, damaging it. Cars will always depreciate, which you could lower the rate of depreciation by not driving it as often.

I have a 140 mile daily commute to work going thru twisty mountain passes with 1600ft elevation changes and have thought about getting a Volt but I enjoy driving my 2014 SS Sedan or 2013 Mustang GT too much. Life is the journey not the destination.

I'm sorry, but if you're debating between a car or retirement, then with all due respect go talk to someone and set priorities a bit more straight. I'm ALL for buying and living in the now. But this is NOT something you need. Retirement should be (I'm assuming you are close or relatively close) 100% your main focus. Buy the car when you can drive it to the beach.
