2nd Cat delete
I am having 1 hell of a time trying to find secondary cat delete. Anyone have a link they can share?
Looking to remove secondary cats but retain the rest of the stock exhaust.

Just go to a muffler shop. They will cut off the secondary Cats and replace with a 3" pipe for both. You shouldn't have to pay more than $100 for this mod. If you do -you've overpaid.
I did the same and love it!

We have options from AWE, B&B, Corsa and Hooker. They either have a cat delete pipe or a full Xpipe that will delete the secondary cats.

The Borla 60606 is a perfect fit. Not produced any more because of an EPA issue

Fairly certain you can buy the Corsa mid section with secondary cat deletes since the Borla is no longer produced.

I am going this morning to a local shop to have my secondaries deleted. He said it makes the Z06 a lot louder. I know it will make it louder, but i don't think it will make it a lot louder. Just give me a bit more tone. I don't know what exhaust i want to go with, but i know i want to keep my active exhaust function. I think i have it down to stainless works, corsa sport, or flowmaster American thunder. Leaning more towards stainless works. Just don't want any drone. I am ok with hearing the exhaust while driving but the roaring drone in some systems is unbearable. Anyone have any input?

My 02 cents is, why waste the money having a muffler shop cut the secondary cats off. Why not just shell out for the SWorks catback and be done with it ? Plus, if you have any drivetrain warranty left, and you needed to make a claim with GM over whatever, you would have the complete stock exhaust to throw back on the car if the dealer / GM got nasty. If you go hacking that secondary cat off and you need warranty work covered, they could easily point the finger somehow at the cat removal, and whether the secondary cats are monitored or not, GM will do what GM wants. Just sayin..... |

my dealer didn't say anything about the exhaust during my oil pump failure warranty claim. The ONLY thing they cared about was the fact the ECM was stock.

Im sure every dealer is different in how hey handle there warranty claims. I had a bad experience with GM with my 2012 Duramax. I had a S & B CAI intake installed and started having issues with a DEF code popping up when the temperatures got cold outside. Somehow the dealer wanted to link it to the intake, anyway, I wont mess with any emissions stuff in the future while under warranty, but thats just me. Im sure theres lots of owners out there that had warranty work covered while they had CAI and catbacks ect. I just wont gamble in the future or atleast til Im deeper into my warranty. |
