That would be cool. Then that wireless charging pad could actually be useful

I believe BMW is the only manufacturer that supports this on select models. Unfortunately this isn't a feature that can be enabled via a software update. There is additional hardware that is required so if you really want this you will have to be prepared for some DIY work. Which we also have to do to get wireless charging working :S

I had a KIA as a rental early last year that had wireless CarPlay.

Heck saw this in a 2014 Jeep.

Kia's documentation on their website very clearly says you must be plugged into USB for CarPlay to work.

Jeep and the other Chrysler vehicles with UConnect didn't have the option for Apple CarPlay before the 2016 model year.

I don't think uConnect supports wireless carplay yet.

I've only seen it on BMW and a couple aftermarket head units, like Pioneer, Sony and Alpine.

I can't wait for this to be implemented! Oh wait, the charger doesn't work on my iPhone 8 anyway.

I'm not a big fan of connecting to the car with bluetooth. I have two GM vehicles and when my wife and I are both in the car, the phones will sometimes switch between the active one, sometimes for apparently no reason, and the only solution is to turn off bluetooth on the phone you don't want to be in control.

I love my Pro-clip mount. Slide the phone in and now it's convenient, hands free, charges, and connects to Carplay with no issues.

CarPlay uses WiFi, so it works better than BlueTooth. it needs more bandwidth.

The connection itself may work better, but I don't think that will solve my problem which is when there's two phones in the car that are paired the vehicle doesn't know which one should controlling. With a wired only configuration, there's only one option.

yeah plus CarPlay won't work with two devices anyways.

The code has been the same since 2019 even though 2019 wasn't with wireless CarPlay.

2019+

7" - IOR

8" - IOS

8" w/ Nav - IOT
