2017 SS - How 'On the grid' are we... can it be disabled?

Where exactly is the SIM unit located and can it be killed without ruining the way the car runs...

Thanks- and after spending a couple hours reading up on it I guess I will just leave it be. Seems fairly functionally benign due to its age compared to what really recent cars do as long as you don't plug Android Auto in to it.

I know the phones in our pockets have always been the worst things to worry about, and I wish I could completely get away from that thing as well, but it's to the point that they are nearly a necessity to navigate modern life. Just sux what BigTech and our governments are doing to us. But hey, still better than living in China.
