it does not. But if it's on the listed as being Dexos2 on their reference site, it seems like it should be good? Maybe the label makers are behind? If the manual calls for oils from their list, but doesn't specify "Dexos2 must be on the label" ...

See what I mean? My thought process is: every curent Dexos2 oil will be on the list (referenced by GM) but every oil meeting/exceeding dexos2 standards may not display the logo (for whatever reason??).

I feel like I need to get AL Oppenheiser's ear on this one haha.

Yeah, no kidding! I've seen the SYNpower around but I don't see the "MST" part. Not sure if that's something implied and it's good to go, or if it's a deal breaker ...

In the Valvoline website only the MST listed as Dexos2

What we are looking for is a 40WT oil that says Dexos2 then we are good on warranty. Not Dex2 30wt oils, they do not apply.

It appears that Dexos website is out of date.

Castrol Edge PDS: http://msdspds.castrol.com/msdspds/m...edmb=No&cols=0

CASTROL EDGE TURBO DIESEL 5W-40 meets Dex2
EDGE 5W-40 U.S does not have dex2

Looks like we got to look on the shelf for turbo diesel oil and see if it says Dex2 on the bottle.

Edit:
The Cruze's Manual says
Quote:
"Use of Substitute Engine Oils if
dexos2 is unavailable: In the event
that dexos2-approved engine oil is
not available at an oil change or for
maintaining proper oil level, you
may use substitute engine oil that
meets ACEA C3 of the appropriate
viscosity grade."
So I wonder if GM can add an addendum to the SS's manual about ACEA approved oils as that is easy to find in 40wt.

It would be great if the people writing the manuals would check availability.

Edit: Amazon and Advanced Auto sell Valvoline MST 5W40 (Make sure it says MST on top of power on the front of the bottle)

Funny (or sad) story:
I called 3 dealerships around me. One of them pride itself for high volume sales and service of Corvettes and Camaros.
None of them ever heard of the Dexos2 requirement. 2 of the dealers don't even carry any 5W40 oil

So lets check Vetts Manual since we know the stringray uses the same LT1

https://www.chevrolet.com/content/da...ers-manual.pdf

Quote:
Use only engine oil meeting the dexos1™ specification of the proper SAE viscosity grade. Look for the dexos1 approved logo for GM approved
engine oil. For track events or competitive driving, use Mobil 1® engine oil.
See Engine Oil 0 223
Quote:
Use SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade engine oil.Cold Temperature Operation: In an area of extreme cold, where the temperature falls below −29 °C (−20 °F), an SAE 0W-30 oil may be
used. An oil of this viscosity grade Chevrolet Corvette Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada/Mexico-9085364) - 2016 - crc - 6/5/15 228 Vehicle Care
will provide easier cold starting for the engine at extremely low temperatures. When selecting an oil of the appropriate viscosity grade, always select an oil of the correct specification. See “Specification” earlier in this section for more information.

For track events or competitive
driving, use Mobil 1® 15W-50 engine oil. An instrument cluster warning light will be illuminated at high oil
temperatures. See Driver Information Center (DIC) 0 114
Quote:
If the vehicle is used for track events and competitive driving,
the engine may use more oil than it would with normal use. Low oil
levels can damage the engine. Check the oil level often and
maintain the proper level. See Engine Oil 0 223.
Caution
Not changing the engine oil to 15W-50 may cause engine damage. Engine oil must be changed to 15W-50 synthetic. See Capacities and Specifications
0 312.
well that's different hah

I have a feeling that this one is the closest thing you can find in a reasonable price

The only 5-40W Dexos 2 I can see is Amsoil European formula.

Yeah. .. not inexpensive, that's for sure. Since it keeps us covered under warranty it's money well spent!

Penzoil has a 5W30 EURO Oil that is Dexos 2.

Pennzoil Platinum Euro L

Canadian Walmart has the new bottles shown.

U.S still has old bottle.

Yes, it is not a 40W, but maybe someone wants a Dexos 2 for normal oil changes
