Blackwing cars without the Blackwing engine. Sounds like Cadillac.

Also, am I the only one that thinks “Blackwing” is just a mediocre name in general?

So Cadillac is going to use the Blackwing moniker, even though the engine is not being used in these vehicles, nor does it even exist anymore.

Makes sense...

I wouldn’t go that far yet. There’s more Cadillac product coming. If they keep Omega platform, Blackwing will definitely be applied there.

I suppose we will have to wait and see.

I still don't understand Cadillac using the Blackwing moniker on these vehicles. Why change the lineup names in the first place? These cars were never going to get the BW engine. What was the purpose? It is mind-numbing.

From what we're hearing, it sounds as if GM is much more interested in going all-electric, rather than finding another vehicle for the Blackwing TT engine. They only wasted millions ($$$) on engineering, design and development for a mere 2 MY's of use.

I would guess the LF4/LT4 that will probably go into the Blackwing cars will just end up being labeled Blackwing engines even though everyone knows they're not.

If the 2.8D in Canyon can be branded Duramax and the 5.3L V8 in Silverado can be branded EcoTec, then....yeah, expect that to happen.

Blackwing has more to do with Cadillac history than just an engine in the bigger scheme of things so I'm fine with the use in this way, but I would like to see an Omega based sedan and crossover in the future with the Twin Turbo DOHC LTA Blackwing V8.

The Blackwing moniker comes from the original Cadillac crest, which featured the merlette black bird. Merlettes were prominent on the crest of Antoine De La Mothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit. The merlettes on his coat of arms had black wings but no legs or beaks.

It's the same V-series badge since 2004...

Corvette ditches the manual trans, and Cadillac will have a manual. My, my....This would have to be the first manual trans Cadillac ever?...and first ever no manual available for the 'Vette....

I can see no manual in this new Vette, but what would this manual trans Cadillac have to offer that the manual sedan Chevy SS didn't?....Will Cadillac go NASCAR?...lol

Alpha 2.0 platform was designed from the start to accept manuals and LS/LT based V8 while the Chevy SS was only an obligation to fulfill the original Pontiac G8 contract GM North America made with GM Holden.

GM never considered the Chevy SS as a viable long term platform but it did give us the 2010-2015 Camaro as a derivative chassis but alpha was going to be king along with Omega which was on the high end for Cadillac and Buick exclusively.

I just wished GM would have given us Alpha based RWD crossovers built in the same facility as the other alpha stablemates and not all these FWD ones. Midsize Alpha Blazer and GMC Hummer off-roader would be epic and add variety.
