Iat2 getting to high still.

So far setup is
2013 zl1 A6
Id1050x injectors
Jms bap
2.45 upper
9.06 lower
dsx bigger idler
Gp2.5 cam plus springs/pushrods and so on
K&N carbon fiber intake
Tsp headers
No cats
Corsa exhaust
Afco heat exchanger
external reservoir
reinforced brick
Catch can
Ngauge
Aem obd2 wideband
Fully tuned by "Mark Bridges"
Outside temp 88f
I cruise iat1 87f
Iat2 is 97f
If I do a second gear pull from 40mph till top of 3rd gear.
I will get to almost 170f+ iat2. Cool down is very quick. But still ?? That's hot.

What kind of boost are you seeing? I'm thinking collapsed IC brick. Didn't see a Reinforced IC Brick on your list.

What kind of mixture do you have for your HX? Coolant wise.

Reservoir?

I have a similar setup (9.17 lower), stroked LSA but, I have more capacity, 3 HXs in parallel, dual intercooler pumps, brick re-enforced, and before meth - max I saw on a road course was 169°. I run E85 however; that does not cool IAT temps - just combustion temps.

With meth on a WOT pull, Mark and I saw ~135° IAT2 temps so that really helped.

With E85, I don’t start pulling timing until IAT2 hits 175°.

This is all with ambient temps in the mid 90s.

Ask Mark about my setup ;o)

Before meth, similar configuration (it was 95° out but ambient was not correct from OBD2):

I'm at 90/10 for coolant mix but, I'm in Texas. Flow, mix, and capacity helped first but, I'm really spinning the blower so, added meth and E85 to help...

So does the 5" CAI and NW 102...

So should I drop the antifreeze content to like 25/75 and add a water wetter /engine ice. Additive?

Well, depends on how cold it gets where you are. If you’re ok changing out the fluid multiple times a year then yes.

Here is the ratio chart I use:

Dam you might have a problem with your brick, even tho it's reinforced. You see my setup in signature. If I do mid 3rd to top of 4th I'll reach about 140 iat2.

How accurate would the reading be for the IAT2 on a Dashlogic? Mine is showing anywhere from 175-185 under just normal driving with a reinforced brick and the mods in my signature. Doesn't seem right to me, it is rather hot in Central Texas this week (105 heat index).

Should be accurate. Either your pump isn't working, or there is air in your system.

Went and took a look at it on my lunch break and my expansion tank was bone dry, still heard the pump try to do its duty but it cuts off. Guess I need to check that a little more often. :(

Update: I was pretty sure I had a serious issue, possible leaking IC brick leaking coolant into the blower and possibly the engine. Pulled the lid, flipped it over and filled it with water plugged the outlet hole and sprayed compressed air into the inlet and saw no bubbles come up.

The lid/brick had a lot of water in it of which I never put in, it has always had Dexcool in the expansion tank. No idea how that happened.

Cleaned everything up really good, put it back together and filled it with Dexcool again, and the IAT2's have been around 95-105 on normal driving in the morning. Around 120-130 in the middle of the afternoon after a handful of hot starts in 102 degree weather.

I would definitely check that brick for leaks though, it's a known issue with that terrible design and it could possibly lead to a dropped valve. Even if it has been reinforced they are still prone to it from what DMS has told me.
