I Was Told That I Have Issues
One of my co-workers, also a car guy, stopped me in the lot and when I told him that I had kept the SS, stepped closer and said, in a conciliatory tone, that I had issues and should seek professional help.

Ha! I think I'm the only person working for my company that is into cars in even the slightest way. They don't get it, and my inlaws certainly don't get it..a lot of judgmental ladies.
 (not meant to be sexist, just stating the facts)

Guess I'm in that club. But for whatever reason my circle of friends are very similar to me, car people with a fleet of them, but step outside of that circle and most people think we're crazy.

My daughter a long time ago told me she did not want to be defined by a car.
People don't get it. Many see our illness as showing off or some midlife crisis thing, or worse yet... some overcompensation. They don't understand the rush from braking down from 160 mph for a sharp right-hander on the track or doing a perfectly executed carve through the cones on AutoX. The don't get the pure joy from hearing the engine howl or the appreciation of technology done right. I have issues, but I also feel sad for those who do not have issues.
