Whipple vs Procharger ZL1

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two?

Easy.. One is a positive displacement blower and one a centrifugal. Whipple will start out extremely strong and lose steam at upper rpm. Procharger is a more linear and predictable power curve and easier on parts.

Depending on the size of the Procharger you can make significantly more power up top. Also with the Procharger cones the opportunity to add port injection aka an extra 8 injectors. You can't do that with a positive displacement blower. So you'll have more headroom in fueling with the Procharger.

Personally I went with the Whipple because it suits my driving style and likely will be easier for me to install. Plus it was much cheaper.

There are a couple examples out there of the Whipple 2.9L over 900rwhp so big power is possible just not at the level of a big Procharger.

With the procharger you will have to source an LT1 intake manifold. That being said, I'd do an F1A-94 procharger if it were my ZL1. That blower gives me the butterflies in the stomach sensation 8)

Or you use the intake manifold from Procharger which is better for higher horsepower builds.

I know since I came from NA it's not quite apples to apples.
PD would be like going from a 350 to a 454
Centri would be like having a 350 and hitting the nitrous button

That's what drove my decision.

You need to look at the Magnuson also. No issues at all and fast as hell right out of the gate. Don't make any decisions till you check them out. Mine doesn't loose steam on the big end as you can see with my mph.

what he said, those Magnusson are no joke, I'd look at their new 2.6L blower for a ZL1 though.

The 2650 is on the horizon but it will be a while and will be better suited for more cubes. The 2300 will be good for plenty of mid to low 10's and maybe some 9 second runs if your willing to do the big pump, injectors. I have only a few mods other then the magnuson, but mine easily runs in the 10's on every pass and just went 133 in 95 degree temps and DA that was 4350 at Topeka, I'd say that's pretty stellar. When it cools down I'll be mid to low 10's and still get 25 mpg on the hwy at 80. Not bad I'd say.

+1!

Depends on how you want your your power curve to look like and your ultimate goal. Top units aka roots/twinscrew = more power down low, centrifuge = more power up top. Looking for a 1k+ rwhp setup? Looking for 700-800ish and keep it simple-ish?

One of the pluses to PC for example is that you can start off with just a any head units then can change up the head unit to a different one, F1, D1X, P1X as upgrades or just to change up the power lower or higher. PC also does give you the option to grab an intake manifold (for LT4) from them (i think it's like $1200 though).

I do wish PC setup was more like C7s. Using the stock intake location (the body is designed specifically for extra air flow at these locations...), away from headers and all... The intercooler is a BEAST though. Heat won't be an issue unless you go and get aftermarket headers and not get em coated... I am sure intake location could've been that way if they could have done it (at least I hope so). I have seen hell of a lot more testing done on the c7 by PC than for the Camaro though which I am sure helped a ton for the camaro but still as I didn't hear or see the PC team on track doing RnD like they did for the C7 before releasing the kits.

What kind of horsepower are the Whipple and Magnacharger capable of producing on a LT4 without over spinning or making it into a heat pump? The stock supercharger is capable of what 700ish?

Whipple has posted 1100rwhp is possible. Not sure what configuration to accomplish that though.
