Maybe I'm Crazy, Newer SS's are slower

It just seems like I see a lot of time slips on the newer SS's that are slower then the 16s when they first came out. Has GM done something to slow the Camaro's down. Every once in a while someone will post a low 12 second pass but lots are 12.50's and up. Am I crazy (that's debatable)?

Not all drivers are created equal....bad day at the track....manual car. I would think the 19s are even more capable with that 10 speed. They all dyno about the same

I actually haven't seen anyone get a great time that would rank in the fast list with an a10 and the publications didn't get any great times with them, so I see where you're coming from, but two 1les went 12.3 in quarter mile in recent publications tests and quite a few guys on FB have 12.1s and 12.2s on FB with manual 2019s. So the manuals haven't gotten any slower that's for sure.

I keep a pretty good eye on the fast list and when we all got ours about the same and all started going to the track it seemed like they were faster. I know my first pass was a 12.05 and second was a 12.04 and lots of guys were matching and some beating my times bone stock but just don't remember seeing those numbers anymore. Yes we all have different abilities at the track. I have over 240 passes on this car right now and 12700 miles. So I've gotten pretty used to it for sure. Also have 51 years of drag racing under my belt so that shows how old I am, but don't plan of stopping anytime soon. Got to at least get 300 passes on this car before I hang it up.

Still thatwill be a bolton Camaro, interesting none the less.

I wonder though if MRC can help the SS Tour mode.

A10's SS are slower in the 1/4. More TM with more shifts. The tuning support isn't great on the 10L80 either.

With the lower torque rating of the 10L80 (vs the 8L90), I think your comment about the more restrictive torque management is spot on.

Don't know about it's TM, but the stock A10 SS should not have more shifts in the 1/4 mile than the stock A8 SS does. Should still be in 5th gear, but at a higher rpm (better in other words) than the A8. The A8's 5th as you know is geared to almost 150mph, while the A10's 5th is geared in the lower 120s on stock tires. If the stock A10's shift programming is so bad that it's going to 6th during the 1/4 mile, I would suggest that the driver slap the shifter over to the left while in 5th to hold it until the finish line. The 'Snowblind' technique.

Look at my thread about the exhaust pops, I have the 17 vs 19 min spark tables there. The a10 definitely pulls more timing for TM.

You are right, they don't use 6th until they start making more power. I am use to watching modded ZL1 A10's.
