305/45/17 Mickey's

Has anyone experimented with the 26in drag radials vs there 28in drag radials and had any improvements with the shorter tire? I don't think the shorter tire will help?

I don't think you'll see improvements with a 26 on a FI car. Lots of guys running them on NA cars but can't see it working on your car. I want to run the tallest tire I can on a Supercharged car.

26 is good for a couple mph and 2 tenths but if you cant plant the power then the differences overcome one another by being able to plant the power on a 28

Thanks for y'alls help, I'm wanting to get in the 9s and not sure if the shorter tire would help, I don't think it would at this level, and I'm not sure if I'll get the .31 I need with better da and temps, but I'm gonna find out with cooler weather in the way

Not necessarily for a FI car or even for a NA car, each car reacts differently depending on the tune, suspension and power. Stay with a 28".

I just went from a 26 to a 28 and I feel the car improved. I think bolt on cars are the ones that see the improvement when lowering the tire diameter.

I'm on a 26" and cross the line at 127 @ 5700 rpms or so. that 4-5 shift really sucks. I would think on a 28 it would even be worse. I thought the shorter tire is like a lower gear ratio, therefore keeping me in a higher rpm and in boost quicker. But, I've been wrong before.

That being said, I have both a 26" & 28" 555Rs. I DD the 28". Next time to the track I'm trying both. My current race tune is for 26". I have a 28" tune that I'll have to play with. But added a couple mph to each shift point to start off with.

I actually asked this question 2 years ago:https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507829

You would be better off keeping the 28 and putting a good converter in the Car...especially on a Centri setup.

I run that same 305 and my best 60 ft is a 1.35 and best mph is 147. Not gonna happen on a 26 inch tall tire. I'd like to run a 29" but inner fender clearance is the issue for me and I plan on doing the 15" conversion this winter so I may be able to find a 29 and squeeze it in there. Might have to take out the liners but that's no big deal. I just don't think the 26" with an FI car is your friend. You might look at the top of the fast list to the procharged guys, no 26s on those cars, 28s or taller.

Typically on a boosted car you want to run a taller tire, I doubt you'd help your situation honestly. Can you not just pulley it down a tad? That should get you over the hump.
