Affordable Snow Tires exist
There is an option now other than $600 Pirellis.
Kumho W72. These were released late last year Can be found for $1000 shipped to your door or about $1250 installed. (Some websites are charging $300 +/- each, shop around) ShadowPuppet (Ross) has some installed already. Mine were delivered today and will have them on in a few days.

i went for bridgestone blizzaks about $320 each i believe
im quite curious as to why you retained the same tire widths? not sure if you plan to daily drive every day even in the heavy snow. I plan to DD so i got 235 all around, the smaller width cuts into the snow deeper so you get better traction on the ground. i always go down a size for snow tires, originally planned 245 all around but then again i guess if when its dry if you still want maximum traction the 275s will be good. |

Nothing wrong with stock sizes.
Daily driven my car 2 winters now on BFG Bfg comp2 A/S. 245 front and 285 rear. No issues. Lots of snow made it interesting but manageable. No interest in buying new wheels to run narrow tires. 95% roads are clear anyway in the winter

Installed today.
Did a qik measurement as we know winter tires run narrow. This is a pic of the 245. Edge to edge from a bead that runs around the tire that separates the sidewall from the tread. Not even a 225. Same for the rear. A little less than 255. I didnt take a pic but the 245 BFG comp2 A/S was close to 250 measuring the same way. If you look at Blizzaks they look really narrow. If you buy narrow winters...you are getting really narrow ones. Going to small on this big heavy car I think would.be dangerous
