and the 20 yr olds wonder why their insurance is so high.
anyhow, we all screw up, especially when we're young. as other have said, get a lawyer and beg the court for mercy. just don't go in there trying to say the radar was off, the cops were lieing or some other BS. just tell them it was stupid, you learned your lesson. it's going to cost you a lot of money (tickets and lawyer), and you'll probably have to take some classes and do some community service, but you'll avoid any jail time and probably get your license back. that being said, your going to be on your last chance now. if you can't keep the speed down, you might want to consider another car. you so much as get a parking ticket after this they're going to throw the book at you. |

Well, maybe not a parking ticket... but another speeding or reckless driving ticket will be big trouble. A second "super speeder"? Go directly to jail. Do not pass GO. And do not collect $200 - in fact, pay thousands in fines and fees and kiss your license goodbye. Oh yeah... and forget about affording insurance for many years to come.

This just seems like common sense...
1) Get a Lawyer ask about NOLO and Driver Ed specials. 2) Unload the Camaro and drive something unremarkable for awhile. 3) Delete your post about the higher speeds unless you would like to explain them to a judge one day. |

And this. You can probably expect a huge increase in your insurance rate now. I think most of us have been in your shoes a time or two though, so can't come down on you too hard. Wouldn't have these types of cars if we didn't like the performance aspect of it. You just need to learn where and when to "play".

1> don't get a lawyer, go to a traffic court with a lawyer and have two traffic cops have to come testify against you. The fact is you looked at your speedo when you were slowing down well that's nice, not knowing if your in a car with the hud......as your sign on just says rs..so it must be a rs ls, anyway the fact is they had you on radar, and they know people want to go bananas in this section of road so they always know its a good place to go see if they can get some out of towner probably they are not stupid. SO you waste money on a lawyer, the best advice he can give you is to beg mercy on the court, ask for a hardship provisional license just to go to work or get medicine for grama and throw your butt on the mercy of the court and act humbled or prepare to get stock in Vasoline as if you get caught driving during the six month suspension its to the whosgow for you and a real long ban on your driving, keep it up and say do multiple DUI's or something and guess what... Lifetime ban..... And generally here over 20 mph over the limit is hazardous driving, major fines and maybe loosing your driving so yes I watch my HUD...and I know my speed. Oh and when you throw yourself on the mercy of the court be prepared for everyone else there to go "awwwwwwwwww you poor innocent baby".......... rofl, sorry a little penitentiary humor.

Get a lawyer. Don't do it again. Take a cab for 6 months.

A super speeder ticket is anything over 75 on a 2 lane rd or anything over 85 on the interstate and is a $200 fine above and beyond your regular speeding ticket or any other infractions you might get. I did get 1 super speeder ticket 2010 when i lived in Georgia and almost got another one but hired a lawyer to have the speeding reduced and avoided the super speeder ticket.

I'm not going to get on a high horse and berate you for going too fast. I've had my speedo needle stuck past the right turn signal in a car with a 120 mph sweep
get a lawyer, for sure. No sermon from me

Back when I was a pup, I thought the ol' Dukes of Hazzard style of just 'makin' it over the county line' was good enough to get away (Turns out, pretty much anywhere in the U.S., if they are in pursuit, they can cross any county/ state line.... and it's always been that way). They clocked me at a steady 135 in my Cutlass, finally set up a roadblock, at which point I surrendered.
My charges were pretty severe, but with lots of help from a decent public defender (I couldn't afford a lawyer, so one was appointed for me), much groveling, favors from friends, and much apology, my sentence did not include jail time, but was a hefty fine, a couple hundred hours of community service, and a six month license suspension. Your citation seems to be far less serious than mine: I think that if you apply yourself to taking care of it (write letters of apology for the court, spend time with your legal defense, volunteer to take driver school courses BEFORE going to court, any and every thing you can do to prove your remorse and resolve to change your ways), you'll be fine. It will sting a little, but eventually, it will all be just a bump in the road, not a life- altering event. |
