Where to find X pipe
Right now I have GM cold air take and Borla Atak axle back. My question is I would like to remove that resonator and add X pipe? Or just leave it alone or what your recommendation?

I added Flowmaster and I love the sound but I'm about to go delete the second cats and replace with an X pipe. I found one on Amazon very well reviewed that fits our cars under $30.
I'm going by the shop after work and asking them if they have any or if I should order that.

any off the shelf x-pipe (with the appropriate diameter pipes) will work and any good exhaust guy can weld it up for you. It's not like you have a bolt-on option regardless of if you are replacing the x-pipe resonator or the secondary cats.
I recommend you get the resonated x-pipe replaced since it seems to be a source of failure in the exhaust system (broken welds internally) ... Replacing secondary cats is at your own peril since it's technically illegal. Just note, losing the resonator moves the tone of the exhaust a bit higher. Losing the cats will definitely change the sound. Either option can easily make the exhaust sound worse by introducing unwanted rasp/ popping and such. Straying from ready-made systems that were supposedly tested together is a potentially expensive experiment. |

I have the Flowmaster super 44 series on. I love the sound but want it a bit louder. Would you suggest replacing the resonator with a true x pipe, AND second cat deletes? I actually kinda like the popping sound. But I don't wanna sound like a ricer either.

your mufflers are the biggest limit to the volume of sound coming out of the exhaust. You'll want something more like a bullet style muffler if you want something louder. It sounds like you want an MRT style axle back system.
Switching out the resonator will just bring the tone up...not really make things louder. Removing the secondary cats will do more than just play with volume. It also introduces pops (fuel detonating in the exhaust) and may impact rasp on top of volume and tone. Ditch the flowmaster 44's and put something on that muffles less without bringing in any of the negatives you dont want. That the smartest move if you want to go louder than you are. Just beware, with loud exhaust comes drone. There's no sound deadening in the car so it easily reverberates. You'll want to do the entire rear of the car in sound deadening. |

Lol too late! I replaced the resonator with a true x pipe. I think it adds a bit of volume when I get on the throttle. Kinda like the tone.
Based off what you said tho I'll probably be leaving the cats on. I like my Flowmaster tho. I enjoy the sound. I don't really like those other exhausts I've heard. I'm pretty happy with this for now

I took a picture of the "before" but when I got back to the shop they were already lowering my car back down. I'll try to get a pic and measurements if you want but im pretty positive that $30 option on amazon will work just fine. As long as the inlets and outlets are both 2.25 inches.

So I've been looking at this one https://www.phastekperformance.com/C...pipe-11386.htm. But the pipes are 2.5 inches. Would this cause a problem or could the exhaust shop take care of that?

So is there any advantage to switching out the resonated stock xpipe with a new non-resonated one if there isnt a rattle issue?
