Ah. Someone who's probably never driven a performance-oriented EV. Got it.

Not sure ICE-swapping a BEV would cause crying and weeping but more like emptying your wallet and a lot of people laughing at the end result.

No one laughed at these guys. Much respect in the industry to them now.

And unlike any E.V., you can run on the track for a few hours.

I was following this build as it happened. Nothing funny about them at all. Some serious engineering went on. Great job and proof it can be done right.

Of course you're wrong, twice. I've driven a Tesla Performance.

Here is the weeping and even death threats:

Just because someone builds something doesn't mean it should command respect or admiration. I'm sure inordinate amounts of time, money, and thought went into that build. People are free to spend their money as they wish, right? Same as automotive enthusiasts can oogle over things that excite them. I hope they did it for their own reasons and not for what other people would think.

I'll bet it's a way faster car than I drive, too.

I'm not sure how this equates to GM building a faster EV-platform SS or ZL1 than what is currently available in ICV form.

Take a week off, hit Vegas. Drink. Eat good food. Hit the poker tables at Cesar’s. Hook up with a high class escort (not one on the strip).

You need it.

I've never needed to pay for good company, but I guess some people have to. You do you, brother

The other driver is simply China. China is over double the car market of the US and BYD just passed Tesla in EV sales and they are still selling only in China. And GM is mostly Hybrid or EV there.

Lastly, GM did Hybrids. FST and SUVs and the Volt and ELR. None sold great and I think that left a bad taste to try again. Stellantis is basically copying the Volt propulsion system for their new pickup powertrain.

And fully agree on the cost.
Honestly speaking, that move by RAM will be the game changer for trucks. EV power, unlimited range.

GM, to it's credit, has not replaced a single vehicle with an EV. EVERY EV has been a plus model and a free choice for the customer. They are building Blazer AND Blazer EV at the same time, Silverado and Sierra same. Equinox as well. GMC Hummer? Plus model. Lyriq? Plus model. So no one is being force fed anything. Now down the road if and when GM goes 100% EV, maybe a different discussion. Just not today. But by then EVs will likely be far better in all regards, cost, range and charge time will be much improved and being anti EV at that point will be like being anti iPhone.

While this is true it is also true that the singlemindedness toward Ultrium under all meant not time or talent invested keeping the Camaro up to date. In fact, when GM tells my Chevy dealer a new Camaro is coming, it is likely more Mustang Mach E competitor than pony car. Even the electric Bolt was cancelled before the public criticism caused a reversal.

Other than the big trucks, where is GM investing much effort in gasoline vehicles?

Don’t fall for the marketing. It’s unlimited range as long as you keep it gassed up. It’s no more unlimited range than the Volt was. And the Volt had an EVrange of about 50 miles.

Camaro did not suffer from EV investment. GM knew they had released a car for Camaro buyers and no more. More investment, other than a new car, would have been pointless.

I think offering an EV model Camaro and a Cadillac offering would have made sense personally. You could have even snuck in a Buick badged model too.

There are areas where the idea makes sense as an option, just not the only option. And I do feel like this is where most of the automotive world is failing the most.
