Pretty expensive venture if one chooses to do an AFM delete.

Anyone tried one of the Chinese knockoffs from Amazon? They are about 1/3rd the price of Range and some comments on Amazon claim they work perfectly on the Camaro.

I haven't, I currently use two Range devices on our 2017 Sierra and Yukon. It's easy to tell if they are working by going to the menu in the gauge cluster that shows what mode the engine is in. For our truck and SUV, it's the instant fuel econ screen which shows V4 or V8. I've never seen V4 since using the Range AFM disablers. They also both coast a lot farther when completely off the throttle.

If you rev over 3100 rpm you need to wait 50 seconds because the oil is Aerated...

This is calling for trouble.
If it is so good, then why limit it to 10 min max??
This is the best information I have seen yet as to why the issue is happening. It seems that it is associated with oil starvation to the lifter actuators. If oil is being aerated, that makes a lot of sense, but quality oil shouldn't have this issue.

I didn't see this info in my search. Can you add it to this thread?

I found that in a tune file on HP tuners.
I would like to find pre 2019 and post 2019 engine and transmission hp tuners files (stock) to compare what changed in the AFM logic. Maybe the lastest software update reduced the problems they we're having.

I'll update the post after doing more research.

Installed my Range disabler yesterday afternoon. So far, I love the feel of it. What I really like is that I no longer hear my clunky AFM valves opening and closing but I'm still going to keep my appt with the dealer to have them looked at.

Remove the Range several drive cycles before doing so or their OBDII port reader they'll plug in may not give them what they want. Same thing if you have emission testing in your area.

Update. So I dropped the car off at the dealer this morning and got a call a couple of hours later. The tech did hear the tapping of the AFM valves when switching from V8 to V4. Unfortunately for me, GM considers it normal and will not replace. The valves are considered an integral part of the whole exhaust system, thus GM will not replace the whole exhaust.

Well at least the range stops you from caring about that issue, unless you want a catback anyway, then you can delete the valves.
