Do you get the original wheels with the black w/ red tape wheel option?
I have had a few people mention this to me.
I just want to confirm before I approach the dealer about getting the original wheels. These are the ones I am speaking of- Sticker says "Wheels, 20" Gloss Black w/ Red Outline Stripe (Dealer Installed) $1995.00 Thanks, Paul |

It is my understanding anything LPO or dealer installed, should it result in removing parts off the factory car in order to be upgraded or changed ... should result in you getting to keep your original parts....

Yes, LPO wheels (hence the price) allow you to keep BOTH sets of wheels.

Ok thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure before I call down there.
Hopefully they are easy to deal with on this issue. |

The answers are correct. Also the red strip is recessed into the wheel. Far nicer then tape or a basic red stripe.

Yes - you should get the factory take offs as well, not just the red-stripes.

I am looking at an in stock 2/SS with the Black Split spoke optional wheels. Based on this thread, I just called the salesman to ask I I get both sets of wheels. He said that when the car is ordered with optional wheels, the car is shipped with donuts, like those space saver tires, which are then replaced with the optional wheels and tires at the dealership. The donuts are then shipped back to Chevy. True or untrue?

I called em. The salesguy said "I will find out for you. The way my GM explained it to me is they are shipped like that. If they are shipped separately the car may just be shipped with 'steel shipment wheels.'"
I smell a runaround... |

This is one of those situations that, yes, absolutely the dealership will give you a run around if you let them. When I bought my camaro the wheels I ordered with the car were the black split-spoke wheels, but those were the lpo optional dealer installed wheels. When the car is ordered with lpo wheels, there is another check box that you decide on the stock wheels, either the bright or black wheels. THE CAR WILL NOT BE SHIPPED WITH STEEL DONUTS!! Do not let them tell make you believe this lol. I received my car with the wheels that are stock and then a week later I had my lpo wheels installed. I made it very clear that I want my original wheels. There's also another thread that I believe Becky states you should be able to get your originals. Try asking her if the dealership tries any slick stuff. Good luck!

Thanks man!
The finance manager called me back cause I had called him separately and he said he spoke to the person who installs thewheels and he said that I should have gotten the stock wheels. It will be interesting if he doesn't let the sales guy know and if the sales guy calls me back saying "it shipped with donuts" haha. |

You get both sets. My dealer just gave them to me when I picked up the car. You can sometimes work a deal to knock some money off the price and let them keep the non-lpo set. My salesman was willing to do so, but the sales manager vetoed it so I just kept the second set. Currently sitting in my garage. Actually haven't even looked at them yet, still in boxes. Anybody want to buy a set?

I ordered lpo wheels and mine came with steel rims that were to be returned to factory once my lpo rims got installed.

You get two sets of wheels, it has been discussed at great length on here already, anything less than that and the dealer is trying to gag you. I have LPO 56h and had to go back for my 2nd set after reading about it on here.

I haven't seen a picture of a Camaro shipped with donuts, but think about pricing for a second. The black splits for instance are just black versions of the $200 split spokes, so why would it being painted black cost $1800 more? Or a red stripe for that matter? For $2000 extra you'd better get a second set of wheels!
