AFM Disable from new/pre-break-in

Any issues with disabling the AFM via a Range unit on a brand-new car?

Just ordered a 2018 2SS vert with A8, and from everything I’ve read hear, it sounds like disabling AFM is a real improvement.

Could there be any issues on doing this from mile zero at delivery, with no prior 500 mile break-in?

Or should I put the miles on first?

Thanks much!

Back when I had my G8 the general consensus was that disabling afm was not good or bad. However, given that the lifters are locked in the extended position when in v8 mode I could see how this might prevent a collapsed lifter which seems to be more common on afm motors.

Also the v8 to v4 transition is when the transmission is programmed to slip the most which seems to be causing additional wear and the infamous shudder.

I don’t see how it could hurt anything and it may actually help prevent issues down the road.

A few things Iv'e done that I contribute to never having the infamous shudder: 1) Manually shifting most of the time, 2) Having the Range Device installed early, and 3) Two preventative Diff flushes. If you haven't already seen this, and are interested in one Lmk:

I just purchased the Range AFM Disable module for my new Camaro. I bought it direct instead of from Amazon to make sure it has the latest firmware. I should have it installed before I hit the 100 mile mark.

Any issues since installing it?
