A buddy of mine had just bought a silver Camaro coupe and I fell in love with it. My wife and i had been talking about buying a car, as our main daily driver was starting to get a little long in the tooth. Being empty nesters, we were ready for something a little less "practical". I drove by a local car lot that only sells primo late-model cars, and sitting on the front row is a silver '17 RS convertible. I went home and told my wife about it and the rest is history. I was initially disappointed to realize that it wasn't a V-8 car, but after driving it, quickly realized that the 3.6L was more than fast enough to get me in trouble. Bottom line - I didn't necessarily set out to buy a 'vert, but I honestly can't imagine anything else. This is my first 'vert if you don't count a Jeep CJ7 that I had in the early '80's. There's nothing quite like an early evening/dusk drive on a summer night with the top down. I can't imagine any handling gains in a coupe making up for losing that magic, for my purposes anyway.
