Looking for a quiet Axle-back system. Any advise?
I like the sound of my car, but the cops, neighbors, kids and everyone that's not a car guy doesnt.
I have ARH's going to a Corsa axle-back system. I started with the Corsa before and later adding the Headers and Supercharger with a cam. I was told to quiet the car down or dont drive it on the street. So i'll hug the tree and do as i'm told, but i need some help to ensure i buy the right system to get it quiet. I refuse to put a resonator or different cat's on the car, because i want no resistance. There has to be mufflers out there i can run that are a lot quieter than my current set-up. I dont want to do a trial and error run in order to find out the best one. Whats your opinions? Last edited by se7en; 01-05-2011 at 04:20 PM. |

Flowmaster hushpower would be your best bet.

I looked into that system, but was told it wouldnt be much quieter than my Corsa that i have now. I can get a good price on it, but im trying to avoid buying something that wont change it much.
Will it really be much different than my Corsa? |

The stock mufflers sound great with long tubes and high flow cats, and they're everywhere if you don't still have yours. They're straight through but designed just like a corsa. In fact I believe corsa may have their hands in the design of gm ss mufflers. They all use a high flow design with similar sound cancellation. If corsa made a touring muffler it would be real similar in sound as the factory ones. Thats why they don't make one.

Stainless Works "Quiet" CB kit. Get that installed then add some DMH Cutouts for when you need your "Loud" fix.

I'd put the stock cat back on. Then do electric cutouts for the fun times.

Listen to the last part of this video, I also have posted what it sounds like on the road. It's the Stainless Works cat-back with old school chambered exhaust.

well i am not sure what sound you have since i have not kept up with all exhaust systems.
but i have the arkperformance exhaust on my car. i kind of do not like it cause it is close to the stock exhaust sound. just a little more deeper i think.( have not had the car for some time) but then again i do not have a cam or headers so not sure how it would sound with those combined. but i also agree with other and just do stock with cut outs. |

I had thought about going back with the stock ones, as they are sitting in the garage, but with them being so close to the Corsa L99 version that i currently have, i think i may be waisting my time for very little improvement. |
