acceptable diameter difference?

A 245/45/20 tire is 28.68 & a 305/35/20 tire is 28.41. Can I run the 305's without problems?

Yes, 100% fine. I have swapped a bigger difference than that on my 2010 Camaro.

That is overall height. The difference there is .27 inches, about 1/4 inch.
Now divide by 2.
0.27/2=0.135
0.135 is the actual height difference that the car sees.

Add a pound or two of air... And it will be he same, but car will never notice a hair over 1/8 inch difference in height.

I think the concern generally stems from overal diameter but more specifically rolling circumference as the ABS sensors do not like large differences, side effects of a large diff. Fixed in the software include improper MPH and automatic shift points etc.

None of which you need to worry about OP... People have issues sometines putting 27 or 26" tires out back, not 28.41.

I do commend you for your attention to the details and asking the question though!

SEND IT!!
