Exclamation UPDATE 305 / 325 Nitto NT01s installed

Decided to run the 305/325s NT01s and compare them against to stock and Trofeo R tires before it gets really hot here in Northwest so it will be an accurate comparison

I have a scheduled event at the RMP this afternoon. Poke doesn't look as bad as I though it would so hopefully there won't be any rubbing

Here's a picture of them next to each other

Discount tire quoted me $195 for dismounting and mounting the new tires (what a joke) so I took it to my local Costco Tire service and only paid $60. Service guys were really helpful also

After careful consideration and test fitting the 18" wheels on my car. I decided to get another set of 19" Apex wheels in same exact sizes that I have now so that I could get some used slicks and/or R7s . I know most of people are scared of having a bit of grinding on the struts but it didn't bother me at all. Since the wheels that I got only cost $1000 a set, it's very hard to pass

FYI, this is how the 18" Apex wheels (18x10.5" +22mm offset with 8mm spacer) look like. As you can see it rubs slightly as the wheel lip sits closer to the knuckle than the 19" Apex on the same width and offset:

I could still have a bit more grinding to the circle welds but I don't want to use 8mm spacers either and the weight difference between 18" and 19" wheels are not that big (22.5lbs-23lbs vs 24.7 lbs)

I also ran off track once and bent one of the front wheels as I went over the concrete bumps but it passed the test! It didn't break but just slightly bent as I would expected from a forged rim. Total cost of that mistake = $250 :P Since it looks like it's repairable I will keep that as a spare

I believe the actual compound itself is more important than the wheel or tire size so financially it makes more sense to get a cheap but strong rotary forged wheels and use the funds on tires. I also didn't have any fitment on rubbing issues with 305/325 NT01s on 19x10.5 and 19x11" wheels so the idea is to have a Track and Track+ set as I don't care much about the street/rain driving. If it ever bothers me I can get some R888R after these Nittos

For those who want to go with wider wheel up front may want to consider adding the C7 Z06 fender flares like in this picture:

Thanks for keeping this thread updates. So if someone wanted to do a 305 square setup do the 10.5" wheels fit both the front and the back? I currently have the 19x10 et25 square setup but if I could do a 10.5 Apex setup and go from 285 to 305 that would be awesome.

PS: I also have a slight outside bend in one of my wheels from a little off track excursion but it held up well. I overcooked it into s turn and the big curbs got me as well.

You should be able to do that. Keep in mind the front struts will require slight grinding and 5mm spacer (was completely fine in my experience). The rear fitment might be even better than mine since it won't poke as much as mine. You can also consider doing the same size of wheels and if you ever need to move the rear tires to front, simply have the tire shop to do that. Total cost will only add up $60-70 for a set which is not a big deal.

19x10.5" and 19x11" wheels are on sale right now and they had low stock so I ordered them right away, just FYI

Once I get my Multimatic suspension, I will give another shot to see whether or not I can fit those 18" wheels and keep it posted in this thread. If all else fails, I get some custom forged wheels with custom offsets

What tire and size are you running on those wheels? If I understand you correctly, you have Apex PS7 19x10 et25 all around with no spacers, and a 285 width tire front and back? That'd be sweet to rotate tires..

I run 5mm spacers (and longer studs) up front to run lots of good ole camber. And yes, 285/35 tires front and back. The square setup is great for tire rotation.

some updates :
wear on the NT01s doesn't look bad at all after 3 events (about 12-15 20 min sessions) and 1 additional session in a different event

As expected, rears have more life in them

the car is clean again after a long time so I decided to take some pictures before and after I switched to street/winter setup. My winter tires are not actual winter or all season tires since it's not my DD. However, as it doesn't snow here in PNW as much I should be fine with some Max Peformance Summer tires (el chepo Kumho ECSTA LE SPORT in 295/30/19 all around)

Anthracite grey set (305-325/30/19)

And now the black set with street tires. Poke is much less on the rear with the street tires (duh 295 vs 325 :P )
