Hi all,

I've seen the posts regarding condensation behind the stock radio display caused by the a/c but I'm having a different problem.

I see streaks and what looks to be that cloudy film you get on the windshield on the inside of the stock display. I tried Meguiar’s PlastX on it and it's definitely on the inside. No pictures to post as the camera can't pick it up.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I totally know what you are saying.. I can really see it when the face of the radio is in direct sunlight

I have had my car going on its 4th summer and the last two years I have seen the radio display fog up. It comes and goes.

I'm taking it to the dealer over the weekend to see what they have to say. You’re absolutely right about the direct sunlight, it really stands out then.

They replaced my radio a while ago for this very issue... should be a no brainer for a warranty replacement.

Ya i had the same issue with radio face what a hassle up here in MASS with these dealers to get anything replaced.

I noticed this today as well. Thought I was just seeing some kind of glare... Let us know what goes down when you bring it in.

I know this is super old, but does anyone know what to do if you aren't under warranty and don't want to shell out for a new head unit? Tried plastx.

Take it apart and re- seal it? I don't know if its something that can be done practically but I've had my base ls one replaced and it did the same thing within a few months. Seems like most of these are defective so i just ignore it and it dries itself out. Kinda annoying but its not like there's a quick cheap solution.

The tinted acrylic lens over the LCD radio/HVAC screen is attached to the bezel assembly with double sided tape. Yes, double sided tape.

If you're really careful, you can grab the corner/edge and firmly peel the tinted lens cover off the bezel assembly. I did it with mine. In fact, if you're lucky enough, you can probably press it back on using the original factory adhesive tape. However, I'd probably clean the mating surface on the bezel assembly to ensure best results.

Another way is take the radio/HVAC bezel assembly out and take it a part. You will find that the LCD screen can be removed from the back. From there, you can access the area behind the lens cover.
