Looking to upgrade
I have a question for you all on which way you'd go. I can get a stingray corvette used 2016 for the mid 40's with low miles or i can get a new hotwheels 2SS for around the same price. I have no use for the "backseat" of the Camaro. Would I be crazy to forgo the used stingray for the new camaro?
edit: coming from a 2016 1LT V6 RS. |

Now that’s the kind of problem to have! Never had a Stingray before so I’m a little bias and since my 6 yr old loves riding along, and since the wife needs a spot to sit too, the Camaro is perfect... for me, you don’t seem to have that issue so you’ll have to make your own pros vs cons list. I love the SS and the “almost useless” backseat and that Hot Wheels version is smoking hot. Ez choice if it were me. But it ain’t. Good luck! You’ll enjoy either, my guess.

I guess it comes down to what you prefer the Camaro or Vette. I myself am not I have to have a Corvette it's never going to be on my bucket list. I like them but not enough to want to buy one.
I would go for the new 2SS IMHO.

I had a C7 for two years, put a lot of miles on it, and loved the car. My only problem is as a daily driver, after a while it became a pain to get in and out of, literally. Quality was very good, durability was fine.

I was leaning on getting the hot wheels 2SS, but then I just started looking at used corvettes, and while they are close to base model stingray's all things considered equal i'm finding it hard to justify the camaro if i can get the corvette.

I would get the Vette if I were you. If you have no need for a backseat, either for passengers or gear, then I would go with the Vette every time. If I didn't have kids...it's what I would have done.

Either is a great next step up from your 1LT. What are your primary driving goals/style? What options on both (Z51 Stingray, etc)?

Personally, the whole late model Corvette experience is not for me. It's fast but it has no muscle car vibe and a lot of white shoe vibe.

So a loaded 2SS vs a base model Vette?
I think the answer is pretty apparent. Now if it was a Grand Sport or at the very least a better optioned Vette. The decision would be harder to make. |

Plus the C7 is faster and perhaps more fun. But a little less useful as a car.

As a previous owner of a "base" (1LT) Vette I would go with the SS because the 1LT Vette does not have any of "goodies" like the memory seats, mirrors, etc. I like my '17SS a lot better - just my opinion.

If it's a used 2LT Vette or a new 2SS I'd get the Vette.
