So,

Chevy and my dealer have been giving me the runaround with conflicting stories. 6 weeks ago it was supposed to be on its way to the dealer, Hendrick Chevrolet in Duluth, GA. Then, they told me it was waiting in a yard to be transported because they can't roll it on the rails.

Fine.

Then, Chevy tells me its on the way, about 3 weeks ago. Great! Super happy.

Now, the dealer tells me the car, along with 99 others, is going through a "quality control check" and hasn't left yet.

What in the world is going on?!

Anyone else running into these issues? Or have run into these issues?

Is three months waiting for build and delivery common with Chevrolet?

I think it’s all about the special transport for the ZL1 1LEs. They’re probably waiting for a full trailer load to head to your area.

Yes, They said it was in Quality a while. Good thing is once it cleared it came into dealer fast for West Coast. My Dealer was not sure why it was in Quality so long and was not getting a clear message but sounds like it's normal.

They are not being held in quality control...... that is there "go to" explanation when a car doesn't move..... it is waiting for an enclosed carrier going your direction, with a full load......

There was a a ZL1 1LE built on the 26th and already at the dealer near Chicago today..... they will ship within 500 miles on a normal car carrier... on the rear spot only....

I believe the it was PhreddT's car.... look at the status thread from this morning..... TPW 9/25, built 9/26, at the dealer 9/30....... look in his signature....

They are trying to deliver these cars as carefully as they can..... which takes extra time.... they will not load onto a railcar..... they sit too low! They can't use the spacers that they put in the mag-ride springs of the SS 1LE's and regular ZL1's.....

I heard this can be something like a software update where they don't want to recall all the cars so they hold them until updated.

I am also waiting on a ZL1-1LE to be delivered in the Atlanta area. Mine had a 9/19 build.
The same dealership is waiting on a ZL1-1LE that was built back in August. Same story-"Quality Control". Not sure what is going on, but maybe they are all being shipped together.

The one we got had a TPW sometime in early August and we delivered it 10 days ago. It spent over 3 weeks just sitting on a lot. Every time I would call they would say quality control.

I would say up to a month is normal for a car like this to be going thru baying process and QC.

I've seen ZL1's delivered on the Westcoast by enclosed Stacker Trailer.

So GM won't be able to track it per se once iys in the Stacker.

Fustrating, you bet, but the Car will be better protected and not get the Train's Iron Rail Paint Treatment.

My dealer had a sold convertible ZL1 that supposedly went into QC. It took two months before it finally showed up.

Came upon a dealer in early July 2017 they all ready had the allocation and no body claimed it The guy at the dealer that does the ordering had it setup there way (like $#&@).. It was stage 3000, for a build date of 9/4, I jumped on the phone and called my friend ASAP he put money down over the phone He was able to make changes still.. later that week it moved to 3300 (gathering parts) was the explanation.. late August the build date change to 9/24, now on 9/24 its moved to 10/16... I gave him dibbs because he was waiting since february at stage 1100/2000 with never a update. I took their second allocation...

There is another car like the one he order at 4300 QC.. It's been 3 weeks at that stage so my friend is going to pick up that one and forget the one he ordered.

Mine had a build date with a N/A but, it moved quickly to 3000 and now with a build date of 10/16.. I went ahead and bought a ZL1 and just did the aero kit gave up the fight after seeing friends car take for ever.. The dealer not where my order was said that at stage 4300 it took 6 weeks to get theirs.

There are a crap load that don't have homes yet FYI on the cargurus and Autotrader do a search for 2018 zl1 then search high to low you can see cars all across the NATION if you choose that distance even cars in transit will show up.. then you can get name of dealer and call the internet team to make your deal!

It's ok to buy outside your state! JUST SAY NO TO THE AZZwhipes trying to get more than MSRP or the ones that don't take Supplier or Employee's discount don't let them tell you its to RARE of a car.. I called Several that would honor that.. Also steer Clear of the dealers that say ya we will honor supplier but you have to finance through us or our lenders.. They will end up stealing a 1/2 to full point from you!

My black 2018 ZL1 1LE had a TPW of 9/11/17. Car was built on 9/11/17. My dealer made an inquiry about shipment. They were told on 9/25/17 that the car was in transit. Chevrolet customer service also confirmed to me that the car is in transit. Nothing ever about QC. Car is being delivered to dealer in North Georgia.
