What all do I need for fuel in a 16ss? (whipple, bolt ons and e85)
Been considering a whipple sc lately. I like low end hit and ill be able to sell my ported msd to recoup some of the cost.
Want to make about 700 rwhp (upper safe limit on SBE). Want to be running 9s. Which I think is pretty realistic goal given im already running 10.8 bolt on. What all will I need to have enough fuel to run e85 and about 700 rwhp? Given I will be on e85 and have full exhaust, cai etc I might not need as much boost to get there as stock im guessing. But I know e85 requirrs about 30 % more fuel. Big bore lt4 fuel pump and lt4 injectors do it? car will have stock cam so no extra fuel lobe on the cam to help either. thanks a lot. want to get my ducks in order and get a rough cost estimate before I decide on FI or heads cam. |

well there is 2 ways.
1) Is the ideal way and it includes LT4 High side, low side, injectors, and voltage pump booster, along with a blower cam that has a bigger fuel lobe. Cost will come in around 12k since you already have headers and flex fuel setup. Here is a example.https://jannettyracing.com/collectio...2018-camaro-ss 2) The cheaper method is to run the LT4 stuff and a meth kit. You will be relying on the meth system for a significant amount of additional fueling. This setup would probably save a significant amount of money but it is the more "risky" solution.

I've been wondering about this also , I've talked to experienced shops and it doesn't look promising without the cam with the bigger lobe If I decide to go E85 with mine I will do it all cam , lingenfelter big bore, Lt4 injectors and Lpfp, also the DSX secondary kit. Pretty sure like King said lt4 stuff with meth and a prayer and you are there question is do we wanna gamble? Money money money!!!

12 grand is out of the question and ridiculous to be slightly faster than an aggressive heads cam setup I could do myself for half that
If I can get a tuner kit for around 6 (I already have hptuners) and spend about 2 grand in fueling I’m in. About 8k is my limit. 12 grand is out of control. If I’m gonna spend that i would rather build a big stroker motor na. |

If your a good shopper you can probably do it for 8 with you tuning it you could do a procharger kit easy for that, but you will be wondering where your torque is, like me...lol

I can sum up everything I have learned in the past few months in a short and simple answer.
If you run e85 and forced induction be prepared to either rely on meth injection to make up part of your fuel system, or fork out a good amount of money for a secondary fuel system. I've seen a m6 car with a d1sc/cam/lt4 hpfp/lt4 injectors/headers put down 725whp with 8-9psi on pump gas and no meth injection. |

700hp on a Whipple isnt going to be easy at all, you will have issues with the heat exchanger at the minimum.
You are going to need the whole LT4 fuel system, in tank pump / high side pump / injectors. Even then you wont have the headroom to run E85 reliably and get to 700rwhp. You could do it on gas but as said you will need meth injection. Every shop I checked out said the same thing, running full on E85 with no meth and making near 700rwhp isnt going to happen without a secondary fuel system if you want it reliable. Also, at 700rwhp you are going to need to worry about pistons as well, they are weak in and around the wrist pin location and tend to want to break the ring land out in that area once you get near or over the 700rwhp range. |

probably one of the most cost effective routes... as long as you don't see any belt slip with that small pulley haha.

It's doable even with a P1x. Pray has already done it.

Haven't seen a Whipple in the 9's yet. Sledge is running 10.30's and has a bunch of hp, cam, pistons, full exhaust with headers although his car has the potential for those numbers.. Shouldn't be a problem with a Maggie since I've already put down that hp and went 10.03 spinning the tires. I know Whipple sounds cool, but just because its a 2.9 and the Maggie has 2300 it appears the performance is on the side of the Maggie just going by the fast list for PD SC's. So choose wisely my friend.
