Like how the 1le and Zl1 have shift lights now. Best you could get in 2016 was a fully loaded 2SS. No shift lights.
That is why the Tesla model is shaking up the industry. Consumers are getting tired of the treadmill approach and want to be able to upgrade their existing cars even if it cost.....just not to much.

Don't get me started on that sham of a company.

Its software.

Just like an Apple TV 3rd gen can take the 1080p and downgrade it for viewing so can this.

The UI is terrible in the mylink. Icons are ugly, non-intuitive.

Other than throw on XM, use CarPlay.

Cannot wait for ios12 with the promise of adding Waze to the mix.

Let's not I am speaking of the constant updates that they give existing product. Lets focus on that were we can be factual. It seems that model is changing the industry and now customers are starting to expect it.

Didn’t see that the hardware was confirmed to be the same. The older Apple TV is capable for sure of doing that but it’s also hardware limited and unable to go to 4k for example. Did GM build in future proof hardware or is it like the gen 1 Apple TV and limited to 720p?

Can’t wait for iOS12 either. iOS 12 makes the navigation option no longer needed

Doubt they will update for older models, hardware is most likely slightly different or the HMI is at least different...just like the 2016 is different from the 2017 and 2018 My Links, the 2016 doesn't have and will never have the OTA updates, the Chevy Shop, the cell signal icons, etc. Slightly different and really useless the extra features. I actually think the current My Link setup is nicer looking from a UI perspective than the 2019 ones from pictures.

I have checked FCC database for filings but latest I have found from Bosch (and meant for GM vehicles) is HMI 2.5 which means no HW changes in HMI part or perhaps GM turned to other manufacturer for HW in FY19 vehicles (very unlikely)

Is CarPlay/Android Auto use low here? For me the infotainment system is nothing more than a gateway to superior function offered by Apple/Google and the apps that run on their platforms. Don't have any desire for an upgrade, no OEM has made an infotainment system that has been as lauded as CarPlay or Android Auto, so it's very doubtful Chevrolet has done so with their new system.

I do feel someone out there in the aftermarket industry will figure it out.

Dont hold your breath at all on this, here is why.

I had a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT, had issues with the infotainment system in it that eventually led to a GM buyback of the truck. The issue was wide spread and known to all owners.

GM updated the system for 2015, same thought as it was identical to the 2014 model. Not one thing was backwards compatible to the 2014 system and even those in the know in the aftermarket couldnt make it work.

Then the 2016 came out, again it was updated and revised over the 2015 model and again, not one thing was able to be used in the 2015 or 2014 trucks at all. Same with the 2017 models.

GM and the other manufactures are slowly closing any and all loop holes that allow features to be taken from one model and swapped over into another model.

love CarPlay but waiting for iOS12 so I can run waze it would also be nice if GM enabled wireless carplay on MyLink, hardware for sure supports it

I wish they were all doing it like Tesla. It would be nice to get new features and enhancements on the infotainment system.
