FWIW I don’t think it’s just ejecting. It might have to do with opening the door too soon too. I thought it might also be shutting off the car without stopping the recording but that didn’t make as much sense. Additionally, the valet record for example wouldn’t have the recording stopped.

I was at COTA recording our drive from the lot to the track and believe I had my door open as I turned the car off, without stopping the recording. It borked the whole thing and gave me the message that there was no card present after that. Ruined the whole track day as far as capturing my drives on the PDR.

I got it home and took a look only to find the incomplete file lien stated above.

Interesting. So here's the million dollar question folks;

QUESTION:
When you are recording from the PDR and you park the car and simply turn off the car (with the door closed) how long before you can get out that allows enough time for the PDR to record the file properly on the SD card?

Going to have to do some tests tomorrow...stay tuned!

It might be better to stop recording before turning the car off to give it time to write it to the card.

I also forget to stop recording. The PDR does not stop recording right away, even when the door is opened. I can watch myself exit the car and enter the house before it stops recording. The problem is that you pulled the card too soon, but opening the car door does not make is stop recording immediately.

Ok everyone so I now know with a 100% confidence that when you park your car and when you turn off the car as opposed to manually stopping the PDR recording it will record onto the SD card. The secret is do not remove the SD Card from the car right after. I would give yourself 10 mins (depending on the size of the file) before ejecting it.

It should also be noted that it also captured me walking into my house (3-7 seconds after I turned off the car.)

Mystery solved!

Not sure I agree that the ejection is the “mystery solved” here. I never ejected the card while I was at the track. I never ejected the card ever in fact except to fix the issue that came up. Perhaps my isolated issue is unrelated to the one being discussed.

My advice is do a quick test. It may be that your SD card was corrupt? Regardless door open or closed while car is on it will record.
