About to buy a Camaro, struggling with options
II have been shopping for about a month in the Los Angeles area for a 2018 Camaro 1SS 6 speed and am down to 2 cars. One is base model, absolutely no frills base silver wheels and even the dual (vs quad) exhaust. The other has he 1LE pack and the track option with the bigger wheels/tires, upgraded brembos and the fancy magnetic shocks among other things. I will never touch a track, mostly do daily commute although it's no traffic and plenty of room to open her up. The difference is about $4k. This is after all discounts, rebates and over a week of negotiating.
Do you all think there is value for the track package when it's time to sell it in a few years? Is the package worth since this is my mid life crisis car and will likely never be driven to it's max? I like the look and the idea of the track upgrade ... But also like the idea of keeping the money for upgrading the base model. Any thoughts or advice? |

If you can get a 1SS/1LE for only $4K more than a base 1SS car, I'd jump on it.
The only negative (which depends on your point of view on the topic) would be not having a spare tire (1SS has runflats, all 1LE have non-runflats)

Get the 1LE, $4K is a bargain for its extras. You absolutely want magnetic ride control and the dual mode exhaust, perhaps the electronic diff, none of which can be retrofitted (although you do have 3rd party options for the exhaust). Plus you may want the big brakes, the enhanced suspension, the wider wheels/tires and possibly the HUD later, which will cost a fortune to add.

Go for the 1LE. You won't regret it.

I also decided on a 1LE, I could get one for a little under $40k. Was well worth the extra cash imo, the car is awesome. I'd much rather have the performance vs the 2SS luxury package. 2SS is for those cross shopping German cars or whatever. I see no benefit to most of it.
Well ok... I did spend $200 on a set of leather covered knee pads. All the hard plastic is a little excessive on the 1SS. The upper sill piece on the door still bothers me a little, not sure if anyone makes replacements for those panels? |

I had almost the same choice, except they had a base 1SS, 2SS and a 1SS 1LE (actually 5 1LEs).
I went with the performance option, couldn't pass up the bigger brakes, exhaust, suspension and everything else.. The way this car handles is crazy good.. and went with the black 1LE..

If "you'll never touch a track " then forget the 1LE .

I'm aware what they're equipped with. don't try to correct me.
