Road Atlanta sound check

I am going to Road Atlanta for the first time this weekend with NASA and I know Sundays between 10AM to 12 noon is the quiet time for the churches.

My exhaust is the non-NPP stock exhaust but I wanted to ask are the sound check stations usually in the same spots on the track or do they move around like how I've read Laguna Secs does now?

I always run the exhaust in Track mode through the Engine Management option in the infotainment screen on top of Track Mode itself and I know the non-NPP exhaust for the SS 1LEs is right on the limit for most tracks that have decibel level checks.

I got black flagged on a completely stock ZL1 (NPP, track mode) during the Sunday quiet hours. IIRC, the sound meter was near turn 7. I don’t think the NPP mode matters, as the valves open under WOT in all modes.

That sucks, sounds like I have to go snow/ice mode for the exhaudt settings then or just let off the throttle near turn 7.

Realistically, it’s only one session with most organizations. You can probably still run track PTM modes, just override exhaust in infotainment vehicle settings. Also, my car was A10, so always in high revs. An M6 would be easier to manage.

You mean your exhaust is the NPP. Non-NPP can't change modes as there are no valves and therefore no modes. Also you can't buy a 1LE without NPP.

I actually didn't know either of the above statements, I thought it was possible to get a 1LE without the NPP exhaust?

Enjoy, RA is fast and not forgiving, video helps,,

Re sound on sunday, Coming out of turn 7 on to the back straight, you will have to keep it out of WOT, sound station is usually to the right at the bridge,,, just dial it back and stay back from others, else you get caught in corner exit back straight passing mayhem ,,, with the M6, you can short shift before the bridge and short shift well before T9 ,,,, the back straight invites dangerous speeds going into the downhill chicane 10a/10b, anything north of 145 on the back straight just consumes brakes going into 10, and north of 155 leaves no room to miss your brake mark or fade ,,,, the gravel trap at 10a was designed to catch sub 2500# cars at 180,,, not 3800# cars at 155+,,, too much retained energy,,,,

I was black flagged for no lift shifting at WOT going past the sound check. I did it just to see if I would hit the sound limit. I just short shifted the rest of the session with no further issues.

Yes you will likely get black flagged. I got black flagged in my completely stock ZLE A10. If you are an m6 and can keep the revs low you should be fine. Just use the time to work on your lines and go slow. Last time in was at RA was Dec NASA event. We had 2 sessions during that time in DE2. 1st session I got black flagged. 2nd session I just put it in tour mode and rode around the track. Fortunately we had 5 sessions that day.
