Hello there guys, Happy New Year to all!!!! Sorry I have been MIA for a bit.. Lots of "life" things going on, and the holidays, and the fact that hurricane Nicole really mess up our state park where I work at and I have been putting in a lot of time to help get it back up and open to the public has kept me pretty busy. So appreciative to you all for the kind words and being concerned of my well being. Many thanks!! God bless you all!!

Hey thanks brother!! Yea I enjoy what I do as a "park safety officer". And yea there has been a lot of damage done to the park since it is a water front park at Sebastian Inlet where surfing and fishing and camping is the big deal. Hurricane Ian didn't do too much, but Nicole with her EXTENDED and disasterous NE winds and high gusts just ruined everything. There was massive beach erosion along with lots of damage to our 675 ft long fishing jetty where about 80% of the steel grates you walk on got blown out. They are all custom made and some had to be reordered along with all the retaining clips to secure them. Under the jetty walkway was totally washed out and had to be all repack, restructured and reinforced with gravel and concrete before anyone could even go out there. We just yesterday got to open the jetty at least halfway out for the public. Never underestimate the destructive power of the ocean when she is angry. But we are alomost there with the repairs.

Yes sir, thanks!! I enjoy it a lot. I figured that the park has given me 52 years of great fishing and fun, so when I retired I figured I'd give back!! I meet all kinds of really cool visitors and am blessed to be able to educate them on all that this area offers for sight seeing and fishing, and they leave totally mesmerized with it all, and I've made new friends!! Makes my day!!

Yes sir, I agree. We still have about 3-4 more months of repairs to the rest of the north jetty, and the south side jetty and walkway that was TOTALLY under water during the storm. Also on the beach erosion and damage, from Sebastian Inlet all the way up through Melbourne Beach we lost several beach side homes and vacation motels that were popular stays, and have been there forever. now they just are hanging by a thread and are closed down. They were very some of the go to spots for vacationers. But yea, Daytona and New Smyrna got whacked really badly.. Hope they recover.
