I recommend the SS brake deflectors to everyone who is tracking a Camaro. There is no good reason not to run them, but most 1LE, ZL1, and ZLE guys just say "our cars don't need them"...

The GT ducts should be better, but they quit producing them because of the wear thru problems and they never provided data vs the SS deflectors to show how much more effective they were. Cost wise, the SS deflectors clearly win.

Is this both sides? I don’t understand why this isnt included with the 1le if it works better...

Because the deflectors are technically for cooling the 4 piston fronts on the SS and GM didn't deem them necessary for the larger 6 piston brakes on the 1LE or ZL1s. I have the 6 pistons and run them 24/7 on my car.

The base SS doesn't have the brake ducts, so the larger / lower control arm deflectors plus the smaller heat shields were "junk in the trunk" to be used only for track use. I'm sure that's because of how low they are and they can kick water and debris towards the front brake back sides.

However, many of us leave have Camaros that came with front OEM brake ducts, replaced the smaller control arm deflectors with the larger / lower ones, and leave them on 24/7 as TheRealJA105 said.

I dropped Velossa Tech a message asking if they would be interested in making a cooling solution for us. I used their brake cooling on my FoST and it was great.

Yes it's a pair of the deflectors and the smaller splash shields.

All SS coupes have the same brake ducts and the same stock control arm deflectors as the 1LE, ZL1, and ZLE. They just came with the junk in the trunk to cool the smaller 4 piston fronts on track.

LT1s do not have the brake ducts or the auxiliary radiators. I think the same for SS convertibles also, but I'm not sure on that.

You are correct, I had to install/cut-in the ducts and buy the deflectors, and do not have the additional aux radiators in the wheel wells ...FWIW I too have since left the larger / lower control arm deflectors plus the smaller heat shields on 24/7.

However only the ZL1 and ZLE come stock with the small splash guard /heat shield that comes in the kit.

I said "base" meaning the LT1. Correct also on the convertible SS's (and LT1's) don't come with V18 aux coolers / radiators nor the brake ducts from the lower grille area to the wheelhouse liners.

Can anyone confirm or deny any clearance issues running the SS brake deflectors on a ZLE?

Hard to tell from those pics, but it looks like those rotors had enough wear that I would have replaced them long ago, even ignoring the heat checking. How many track days on them? What pads?

I just got my SS deflectors today, so hopefully I will get them thrown on today or tomorrow and take a few pictures.
