Cammed '20 LT1

This friday, I'll be installing the GMPP Hot Cam, Speed Engineering 2" longtubes and a flex fuel kit. It's getting tuned at Speed Inc. In Schaumburg IL on monday. I've lowered it with AFE springs and switched to 19x9-19x10s. The bare trunk looked so bare, I installed the GM "high spoiler". I chose this cam for the low lift. I drive 30k a year, so annual valve springs didn't appeal to me. Fingers crossed it puts down at least 450.

Looks great!

(Seeing "Schaumburg" made me sad... Grew up in Des Plaines (21 years), lived 3 years in Palatine, 7 years in Lake Zurich and 11 years in Cary)...

I know exactly where Gilberts is...

450? You'll make 450 with headers and flex fuel. Those are rookie numbers! 475-490 depending on cam specs.

Wow, that install wasnt fun. I opted to not drop the oil pan and peel the chain off of the phaser. Took 3 trys to get it timed properly. The speed engineering system leaks terribly. I initially put it together with 3x3 clamps, but they didn't tighten enough, so I then caved and used the narrower clamps that were provided. The idle sounded healthy, but went into limp mode when attempting to pull it out of the shop. I had it towed to Speed Inc for the tune tomorrow. Another issue was the pin location for the flex fuel. It's got to be different than earlier years, because there isnt a removable plug in said hole in connector. While the car was down for install, I had the wheels powdercoated and put on some beefier summer tires. I hope I get some good news tomorrow!

Not at the moment. I'd like to drop another 2k on a mamo MSD and a rotofab, but that's not feasible yet.

So you still have the stock airbox, stock throttle body, stock intake manifold and stock exhaust(besides the headers of coarse)?

499/447 on E. Peak hp at 6200. Doesnt stock peak at 5700? So appx. 100 wheel from the hot cam, 2" speed engineering longtubes kit and the flex sensor. Car really rips now. I got laid off today. So on my 45 mile commute home on the expressway I was able to get acquainted with the new set up. Stock air box, filter and non npp mufflers. Chops good at idle, makes its presence know at WOT, but with zero drone. With the radio on, it's no different than stock. Big thanks to the crew at Speed Inc. They adjusted and clamped the exhaust, so there are no leaks. Including tune, I've only got about $3k into this simple set up.

Man that is fantastic. I assume that you are an M6 with those numbers, so how does the low speed driveability/torque feel compared to the stock cam? Sorry about your layoff, I hope it is short lived.

Yes, M6. It's got some low speed, low rpm surge in first. Power is a little "spongy" when hitting it at a lower rpm compared to stock. With the little time I've had, it seems the remedy is just drop a gear to end up in the powerband. 3500 and up its responsive. My tire height may also be a contributing factor. At 28" tall, they're only .3" taller than stock, but I think the 1le height is in the upper 26s if I remember. I wanted a 28, because I've also bought a pair of 17x9s to put 28x10 Hoosiers on, and didn't want to freak out the traction control/abs. Stabbing it from a roll out, I did get some wheel hop, so some BMR goods is next on the list. Thanks for the kind words about my lay off. I'm a 14 year Hyundai tech, hoping things turn back around in a couple weeks.
