TenSeven's 2016 Camaro SS

2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS

05/04/2016 @ Weseloh Chevrolet in Carlsbad, CA

000006 Miles On Odometer

Options:
  • 2SS Trim Level
  • Magnetic Ride Control
  • 8 Speed Automatic Transmission
  • Power Sunroof
  • Dual Mode Exhaust
  • MyLink with Navigation
  • Garnet Red Tintcoat
  • 20" 5-Split Spoke Premium Wheels
  • Floor Mats - All Weather
  • Black Front & Rear Bowtie Emblems
  • Battery Protection Package
  • Cargo Net

Comments:
  • Bought the car as Weseloh Chevy ordered it.
  • The All Weather floor mats from Chevy are... not good. They don't look good and are just cheap rubber mats you can get for $25 at most auto parts stores.
  • The $120 Battery Protection Package is useless to me, oh well...
  • For whatever reason, Chevy put the fuel filler on the right side of the car. I'm not a fan of that location.

Pictures on the day I bought the car:

Covered up the awful airbag warning labels with stickers from RPI Designs:

The flash from my cell phone camera caused the covers to look far different from the headliner. They are much closer in appearance in person.

Installed a Vitesse Throttle Controller:

The "difficult" part of installing the VTC was getting to the wiring plugs behind the gas pedal. Calibration was very simple.

The controller was mounted to the lower dash using Velcro, we'll see how long it lasts...

*** Updated Installation Info ***

When adding the aluminum brake and pedal covers, I found that the throttle pedal and housing is a single unit that is bolted to the floor. The entire assembly is very easily removed by popping off a rubber cover and removing a 10mm bolt. Slide the housing back about a half inch and it will be freed from the floor.

The throttle assembly can now be turned around allowing easy access to the wiring you need to replace to install the VTC.

Ordered black SS emblem overlays from 6LE Design.

They didn't work out. Ended up painting the factory emblems, see below.

Removed the rear SS emblem today. Waiting for the black overlays from 6LE to arrive before I reattach the emblem. Will reattach it level, not angled like the factory put it on the car.

The emblem overlays from 6LE didn't fit right, maybe I was not applying them correctly. Regardless, I ended up removing, painting (paint used: Testors Metallic Black enamel), and reapplying the factory SS's.

The black-painted logos are more subtle, I thought the bright red SS clashed with the Garnet Red of my Camaro.

The rear emblem is now level (I measured) to the ground, not angled with the adjacent body line.

Wow, you're on a small mission.

How is the Vitesse throttle controller working out?

Not really. I'm just using this forum subsection to keep track of what changes I do to the car.

Absolutely 100% terrific! I mentioned earlier that I now know why the VTC is pricey for what it is. It's because it is worth it. Car drives much better, throttle lag is gone.

Is yours an M6? Mine is an M6 and if I'm late on the gas at the biting point, there will be a slight delay.

I'm just breaking her in, 200 miles right now. Going to read up more on it lol

Car looks good man!!

No M6, I'm running an A8 but I know exactly what you mean by "a slight delay" in throttle response.

After installing and calibrating the VTC, that slight delay is gone. Much sharper throttle response.

Sledgehammer70's YouTube Video was a great help to me with the installation.

Did the 500-mile (476 miles) oil change today. Haven't done an oil change myself in years. It's not as much fun as I remember it to be.

Installed a BrandMotion Parking Assist today.

Running the cable from under the car and into the engine bay was a serious pain! I was probably missing something obvious, but that was a real chore to get done. The rest of the install was fairly simple.

How is that working out? Sensors are only for the rear correct?

I just finished the install 2 hours ago and went to the grocery store parking lot to test it out on an actual curb. Seems to be working fine, but I do need to adjust the height and distance settings.

They're intended for the front (where I have it installed), but I suppose it could be installed in the rear. Having the back-up camera in my car makes that unnecessary.
