No preformance gain for the money you have to want the other subjective things but this isn't a performance gain, anything that is meaningful and I mean in the way that you'll need baseline dyno pulls and after to see your on paper numbers gain because from behind the wheel it's all extremely subjective.
Too these things are worth about $100-$150, not >$350. From some one that ran a few on different cars. I don't recommend CAI's unless you think youre going supercharged, tuned, E85, etc etc etc On an otherwise stock car all it is is lightening of your wallet. |

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for all of your responses, I've decided not to get the CAI. Doesn't seem to make much sense to fork over that much money for an looks only upgrade (as cool looking as it is). Matt |

Just save it for a supercharger, the procharger kit comes with its own intake lol

Smart move, you'll have more money left for real power increasing mods later. (I got the GM CAI and ended up selling it at a loss, so you're already ahead of me in the wisdom department.)

You can always upgrade the stock air filter with a "Green" filter or another brand that allegedly has a higher flow

OP you do not lose your warranty by adding a CAI. While technically a dealer could do that if you had a complete engine failure they would have to prove the CAI caused the failure. Which of course is almost impossible. And they want to keep your business. Most of the popular ones do not disturb engine operation unless you buy one of the more extreme ones that can provide more HP to FBO (Full Bolton) Camaros.
The two most popular mild ones, the Rotofab and the Cold Air induction (The Chevy CAI) are by far the most popular. The Rotofab with the dry filter has been one of the very few mild CAI versions that can add HP and that number is 5 rear wheel HP (RWHP). But even that is suspect to me as the Camaro engine software works its magic over time to try to smooth out the flow. But I am not sure I am stating that process accurately. None of the mild CAIs will give you any seat of the pants or ET measurable HP gains (except on the ZL1, but that effect also mitigates over time). However the CAI is a fun mod. While the stock Camaro CAI is very effective it is really ugly. So the CAI can spice up your engine bay. It also makes the intake sound louder and deeper which is kind of fun. Other than that it is fun to mod your Camaro and make it your own. I also think it is fun to DIY your mods. Installing any one of the CAIs is very straight forward if you can turn a screwdriver and follow directions. To me it it is a great feeling to say I did that! And you will be rewarded for your efforts every time you bury the throttle. IMO the two best choices are the: Chevrolet Cold Air Inductions CAI - the best looking CAI and zero Warranty issues. But you will pay the most with this option. If you like this one you can save $$ by directly buying from them. Rotofab CAI - Maybe 5 HP wouldn't hurt? I have owned several of both of these, they are both high quality and well made. But others may be equally as good, I have no experience with them.
