Which Michelin Pilot?
I put the PS4S on this past March and I like them a lot.

Pilot Sports 4 are pretty much the best road going performance tire you can buy right now. I'm also a fan of Continental DW and Firehawk Indy 500s if you're looking for something cheaper.

I'm leaning toward the PS4 myself but A/S 3's are up there too. I don't drive in snowy weather here in NC but thinking about handling in rain.

Just had these installed this week.

The service manager at the GM dealer I had them put on came back while they were mounting them & checked them out. He was impressed with the tread pattern, took pics & is ordering a set for himself.

So far I’ve put 100miles on them & had a chance to run a windy rural road I had run the week prior. Stability seemed very close to the factory GY’s. While not running long sweeping, yet relatively tight, S-corners near max speed I found it could carry the same line at the same G’s at the same MPH running cruise set at 62MPH that most vehicles would have to brake to carry the line in these corners. In a few I even punched it at the apex to see if they would allow the rear to step out. Instead they gripped & allowed me to power out quite nicely hugging the inside line if I chose or let it sweep to the yellow with precision acceptable with an A/S tire hitting well over 90mph on the exit. My passenger even gave me an acknowledging grin a few times, looking up from his phone, knowing I was in complete control & was enjoying the ride.

Road noise is perhaps a bit better. Ride quality is slightly improved especially in Touring mode.

I’d have liked a tad more contact patch for the section width, but that’s the way A/S tires size.

Main reason for going this route is that we get a lot of heavy flash rains so I wanted a tire that was markedly better in wet conditions, with excellent treadwear, which was a circumstance I found the factory GY’s were abismal.

OP, if you are considering these I’d be happy to snap some pics of how they look mounted.

Nothing wrong with Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires as they are a real good performance tire. I had some on my 2010 SS and they really performed better than any other tire I had on the car but they are a summer performance tire and you probably would need a multi season tire since you live in Maine. The Michelins are good and the Continental DWS tires are good too and cheaper than the Michelins. I had a set of the Continental Extreme Contact Sports on my 2016 2SS and was really impressed with the handling and ride and of course the price but they are a summer performance tire and wouldn’t fair that well in colder weather especially where it gets real cold in the winter.

Drove the 4S like a bat out of hell on two GTR from 4/13 to 6/20, never had an issue, stuck to the road like glue. I will put them on my 1LE in a few months.

4S was released Jan 2017

Thanks for the info I ordered the Michelin 3s won’t be driving in the winter but might get caught in the rain these tires will be all we need .to you fellow Mainer we live down on the coast South Bristol

Could have been Michelin's predecessor tire, the Pilot Super Sport
