Personally, my theory is, "Fluids are CHEAP, components are NOT!!!"

I plan to change my oil as follows:

500 Miles: Oil & Filter (done)
1,500 Miles: Oil & Filter (done)
4,500 Miles: Oil & Filter (will change earlier if Oil Life Percentage drops below 50% prior to 4,500 miles)
7,500 Miles: Oil & Filter (will change earlier if Oil Life Percentage drops below 50% prior to 7,500 miles)
10,500 Miles: Oil & Filter (will change earlier if Oil Life Percentage drops below 50% prior to 10,500 miles)
ETC...

I use Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP Formula and an AC Delco PF64 Filter on ALL changes... (I do the labor myself)...

I know people are very adamant about their opinions on changing, but honestly you really don’t need to change every 3000 miles ,not with today’s oils..... make it 6000 and you’ll be fine.

I do all my cars at 3,000 (all the other cars I use Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic), I get that oil for $22.68 and a filter is about $7.00 so an oil change is $30 on those... My oldest car is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with over 135,000 miles on it, still runs great and the inside of the engine is nice and clean...

And I think Glenn's point is you will get the same result going 6,000 miles on today's oils.

Blackstone convinced me that 3,000 mile changes was wasteful.
